What is Xenowerk Tactics?

Xenowerk Tactics is a single-player, tactical squad-based, real-time combat game that can be played offline. The game is set in the aftermath of a disaster at a secret lab in the arctic region. The player takes on the role of the commander of an emergency response team, tasked with covering up the disaster and maximizing profits for the Xenowerk corporation, or saving the world, depending on the player's choice. The game features world map exploration, home base management, and character development.

Game Features and Description

1. Spend gathered resources to enhance your base of operations; Barracks, Recruitment, Field hospital, Armory, etc.

2. Use operative skills and mutations, such as Frag Grenade, Bait & Trap, Adrenaline, Pyrokinesis and much more, to skew the odds in your favor.

3. Use skills, traits and mutations to mitigate the dangers, horrors and mishaps during your journeys.

4. Play as the commander of an emergency response team after a disaster at a secret lab, hidden deep in the arctic region.

5. Explore a ferocious landscape scattered with remnants of Xenowerk's absurd research facilities.

6. Cater for the whims of the Xenowerk Management to keep getting funded.

7. Push your operatives to the limit, not to waste any precious time.

8. Earn some extra cash-under-the-table by selling off resources on the Black Market.

9. But choose wisely, some may obtain dubious traits or mutations.

10. Recruit and evolve Marines, Rangers and Scientists as your operatives.

11. Activate Tactical Pause at any time to give more detailed orders.

Surprisingly good game in spite of boring combat

This seems like the foundation of a great game. The biggest problem is that it’s way too easy and you don’t have a lot to do in combat. When you enter combat levels you pretty much just guide your squad around with double clicks and then they blast everything that’s coming at them. You occasionally move them away from a telegraphed aoe attack, move an injured member to the back, or trigger a special ability. The most important thing in combat appears to be to make sure your guys are stopped when something’s coming at them because they won’t shoot on the move and almost everything you encounter is faster then you. That’s about it at this point. I’m only probably half way through and it’s possible combat will develop further, but I don’t really see how. There’s no cover, high ground or even incentive to move you troops individually. I hope this can be addressed since the game seems like it should be a blast based on the travel system, base management etc. it would be nice if there was more choice and resource scarcity in character and base developement.
Great game and a game idea

This is such and amazing game one of the best to be honest. I have played quite a couple of games and none compare to this style. I just got this game just one day ago and to my surprise it is amazing I usually don’t write reviews for games because they just don’t seem to be entertaining. Now I have an idea for a game why not make it like this game but in first person, co-op, open world, you could play with your friends. You start off either in a helicopter to the island either connect with your friends from the beginning or solo and connect with other players you have a town like the game and recruit people like in the game but you could switch to them you have abilities according to the person your playing take missions and be able to take other players or npc. I got more but it would take a while to describe.
Been waiting for a game like this!!

Finally someone came up with an Xcom like tactics game omg. This is so good beat the black market ending after a day of play....warning all don’t max out the black market or the game will end! So upset i lost all of my progress and players I have been building up with hours of play! But I guess I get to start over now wish I kept soldiers. Keep it up was worth the $5 preorder! Stop reading these and buy this game now! - would love to see different weapons - better instructions on what to do what’s the goal? - more bass upgrades attacks on the base

I’m more of a passive player, so I wish I could just send my little soldiers off to different locations at a time which would allow me to play easier but great game non-the less.
