Crashes

I really enjoy this app and think it is well designed. I have had this app for about 3 days and have had several crashes. The first crash was when I was drawing and opened the colors for one of the brushes. It returned my work to when I last saved it. I tried opening the colors 3 more times but it froze, wouldn’t let me pick a color, then crashed out of the app. I continued to use a different brush and it started working. The second crash was when I was blending. I was was blending then suddenly the top fifth of my paper returned to how it was when I only had a few things on the drawing. I tried hitting undo but it undid the blending and didn’t change the top. I checked the layers and I looked like my first layer was completely erased. I hit undo a few more times to see if it would fix itself. The top returned to normal but two spots of my paper returned to how they were in the past just as the top had. I checked the layers again and it looked like it doubled the 2nd layer. Then it crashed. I restarted the app and opened it a few more times and it crashed as soon as I would pick an artwork.
I’m Getting A Bit Upset...

Hi! Your app is pretty good. The tools are really realistic and when used, they show up just how they would in real life. Along with the upsides, though, there’s a downside. I like being able to layer my the app. First layer would be the sketch, then the line the app, and finally the complete colored image, but with this app, I’m not able to do that. This gets frustrating because say if I’m using oil pastels on top of my line the app and sketch lines, the oil pastels with ALWAYS blend in with my other illustration elements. It may just be me not knowing how to work the app and that there is a layering tool somewhere, but I’d appreciate a response to this review regarding to if there really is a layering tool or just a response that takes notice of my situation. Thanks for reading! -Splish

(I’ve had a couple weeks now to give a better review) I’ve been a huge fan of the app Set Pro, which has always been the closest simulator of real studio the app tools available for iPad. The simplicity of a layer-less document is just more realistic and makes you solve media problems the same way you would in real life. With this addition to the developer’s app set, I have been a little skeptical since there are more of the extras that we see in apps like procreate, but in terms of tool simulation, they really did a great job. The real-time blending and impasto of the oil brush and the bleed of the watercolors is just amazing. There’s been a few issues, but nothing that can’t be fixed, I’m sure - it gets hung up sometimes and I’ve had unintended thin lines from the selected tool swoop across a document that has been hard to get rid of. I’ve also completely lost a few projects for no apparent reason. But none of that has taken away from the experience. I do wish you could save a document set up - starting from scratch each time by dragging the colors and tools I need to whichever edge is kinda lame, but I have found a way around it by duplicating a base setup. In my humble opinion this is the best one out there.

This app lands between Procreate, ArtRage, and ArtStudio. It is simpler to use than ArtStudio, more configurable and versatile than ArtRage, and as modern in UI as Procreate. It also innovates with color mixing similar to Paper by 53(WeTransfer), and the ability to drag to the toolbars little elegant tool pucks is wonderfully agile. Not just size, opacity like Procreate but also: Grain, Flow, Pressure, Tilt, etc. WONDERFULLY simple and immediate without creative-flow-context-shifts required when menu-diving. STAY on the canvas! Need tilt for shading leads? One drag up, done. It can do traditional media like ArtRage and all media types are represented. It can also unlike ArtRage, and Procreate do pixel the app. The way you can customize the UI is wonderfully aligned to pixel the app in that you can expose the tools and colors you need. On my setup I have 16 colors on the right bar with eyedropper, and I can load any image and sample colors to each slot thereby creating palettes for pixel the app. In the SAME app I can emulate oil paints, sketch with leads, etc. Needs: - Workspace load/save/share - Palette load/save/share - Brush load/save/share - Polygonal select/shape Besides these needs, IMO this app is fantastic! Well done!!!
