Xfinity Authenticator functions
- Push notifications when unrecognized devices attempt to sign in
- Easy approval of sign-in requests with Touch or Face ID
- Verification of mobile phone number and personal email address
- Creation of Two-Step Verification codes from most supported providers
- Management of sign-in requests from multiple Xfinity users and third-party accounts on one device.
✔ Pros:
- Adds an extra layer of authentication to Xfinity Myaccount
- Notifies the user through push notifications every time they log in
- Allows the user to approve or deny login requests with Touch ID
- Increases the security of the user's personal information
☹ Cons:
- The app stopped working and the user was locked out of their Xfinity account
- The app hangs on "upgrading to the latest version" and displays a loading message for an extended period
- The app is overly ambitious and not reliable compared to third-party 2FA apps
- The app requires dynamic updates, which is unnecessary for an authenticator app
- The developer responses to the issue are incorrect.

2FA good idea, broken app bad idea
By andrewking0207 (Pcmac user)
I was happy to install and set up this app because 2FA is a great way to secure an account.
However this app simply stopped working. I wasn’t able to open the app I had installed, it just hung on “upgrading to the latest version of our app” so I uninstalled and reinstalled. Now the newly installed one doesn’t open the oauth page when I try to register. So I’m locked out of my the app account.
There are many third party 2FA apps that work very well, I think it was overly ambitious for the app to try rolling their own if they can’t keep it running.

Nice and smart.
By Anvesh Paidipala (Pcmac user)
Very cool app..It adds up a second layer of authentication to the app Myaccount and I get notified through a push notification every time when I login, which I can approve with Touch Id or deny the request if it’s not me. This app makes my account more secure which has all my personal information. 👏👏👏

Borked on new iPhone 11 Pro
By CupertinoTony (Pcmac user)
How could the developers screw up such a simple app? For the past 20 minutes, this app has been displaying the message “We’re loading the latest version of our app. This should only take a moment.”
It’s the modern day equivalent of turning your TV on and getting snow, despite the fact you’re paying 160 per month for a cable subscription.
Funny, because what led me to this point was the fact that my the app box is frozen and not accepting commands—so I was trying to enable Showtime Anytime. All I needed was to log on to the app for authentication.
When I enabled 2-factor authentication for the app, I thought, “How could they possibly screw this up?” Well, now I know.

Stuck updating
By arik-so (Pcmac user)
I the the latest version as of writing, and the app is stuck “loading the latest version of our app.” It’s a freaking authenticator, what could possibly require dynamic updates‽ Just use a normal Authenticator app like Google’s.
Also, the developer responses to the same issue cited in other reviews, claiming it’s fixed in the latest version, are wrong.
