ROTK The Legend of CaoCao for Pc

I fell in love with RTK when it come out for Nintendo in the 80’s so when I saw it available on my phone, I jumped right in. I’ve been playing for about 4 months and there are several things that I like about the game. First, you can play at your own pace without having your kingdom completely destroyed by other players. I typically try to take over a region within a few hours, put on a “no attack” defense for a few days, which prevents others from attacking you but also prevents you from attacking. Then I take my time and build up the newly acquired cities. Every so often I’ll lose a city but I can usually take it right back. Another thing I like is the story mode and quests. They are actually decently written, fun to play, and give the opportunity to level-up your generals. The battles are really fun to play with some challenging fights thrown in there but most are won easily. I also like the variety of weapons and artifacts that make a big difference on the game. There are a few things that I wish were part of the game like he old version such as your generals’ loyalty, natural disasters, and a little more governing in terms of diplomacy with AI. Overall, the game is entertaining and fun to play, not stressful. At my current pace, it’ll probably take another year for me to unite the kingdom, which is fine with me for a free game. Oh yeah, I don’t do in-app purchases.

Did my heart good to see “NEXON” around again. :) On another note, I really like that I can play it in Korean! My dad loves the app since the SNES days and I plan on showing this to him to try. The only issue I have is that I went through the Settings and noticed there’s no actual option to toggle the fact that all the dialogue runs on Auto. I’d like to be able to read at my own pace, and there are some times when I have to put my phone down to handle something right away and had to miss some important text. It’s a small thing but being able to toggle the auto progression of text would be great. ^_^

Really enjoyed the game at first. Great visuals, right amount of strategy and luck, F2P, etc. I have gotten pretty far up in the game by just hard work and some luck. Unfortunately for me and other global server players, there was a server merge that put us at a disadvantage against the other servers that had been playing much longer than us. Many months after the merge, you just get used to the fact that there are people who are way ahead of you in every aspect of the game (artifacts, upgrades, commander exclusives, etc.). The unbalance of the game that favors p2w and those who have played longest hasn’t changed. Still, I play casually and for the fun of it, collecting resources and crafting artifacts, battling in pve and pvp. Nexon is implementing new modes and adding new concepts to the game which I look forward to. But, in all honesty, I probably wouldn’t have continued playing if it wasn’t for my alliance. I almost never write reviews but I have to do one for this game. I played this game extensively on PC back in the day and I think it is one of the best turn-based rpg/strategy game ever made. It blends elements from rpg and rts so well that it creates its own genre almost. Further, the music, sound effects, and storytelling were just superb. If KOEI re-release the original (and other similar titles) on PC/MAC, I would buy them in a heart beat. This mobile version is different but I take what I can get. The mobile version added more elements that make the game feel more updated (I still wish I could get my hands on the original thought). Bravo for adapting.
