★ ★ ★ Wifiner Overview

What is Wifiner?

Wifiner is a Wi-Fi network analysis and troubleshooting app that allows users to scan their Wi-Fi network and get detailed information with an interactive color-coded heatmap. The app helps users to fix the "dead" zones and optimize hotspots' placement. It supports different area types, real-time upload/download speeds measurement, Wi-Fi troubleshooting, and exports heatmaps. Wifiner works with 802.11a/b/g/n/ac networks and mesh networks.

Software Features and Description

1. Scan your Wi-Fi network to get the detailed information with an interactive color-coded heatmap and get the possibility to fix the "dead" zones.

2. WiFi surveys are an important step in determining the suitability of a specific area for implementing an efficient WiFi network.

3. Such surveys help finding the best spot for each access point of your future network so that the coverage is even and steady throughout.

4. The visual Wi-Fi map in the end lets you see all "dead" zones ( those not getting any coverage) so that you can optimize hotspots' placement.

5. Analyze and troubleshoot your Wi-Fi network connection in a few clicks.

6. Please note: Wifiner scans only one WiFi network at once due to the Mac App Store restrictions.

7. You can load your own map or choose one of the samples, point to where you are on the map and Wifiner starts measuring wireless signal right away.

8. Run a survey by walking around the space you wish to scan and click the point on the map that corresponds to where you are standing.

9. External Wi-Fi adapters are not supported yet but we are working on it.

10. Requires a Mac with a built-in Wi-Fi.

  • Basic but great tool at the right price

    By reznor244 (Pcmac user)

I bought this when it was on sale for $1 and couldn’t be happier. It is undoubtedly worth the $5 asking price, although at that price you might as well get one of their other applications which look to be more fully featured. The first thing I realized after getting this is that this is only Wi-Fi analysis software, not a home floor plan creator. That’s fine because there are plenty of other tools to help you do this (including free ones). After I got a rough floor plan made as an image, I was able to import the image and begin using it. I can see the Wi-Fi deadspots pretty well using this. You can make a good number of adjustments to the report to see problem areas, although you never see any page with actual numbers. You just get the “heat map” type visualizations as shown above. Pretty basic but good enough for my needs.
