What is SnapBridge on Nikon?

The SnapBridge app is a free app that lets you share high-quality photos taken with Nikon's camera directly to your email or social media Via Bluetooth as if the pictures have been taken with a smart device.

With the SnapBridge app, downloading photos from Nikon cameras is easy and direct.SnapBridge app is available for download on both iOS and Android and Windows devices. It is the fastest and the easiest way to get your photos out of your camera and into the world using a compatible smart device.

Having SnapBridge work reliably requires having the camera on and connected and having the app running on the phone. Photos can automatically be transferred from the camera to your phone or other mobile devices as you shoot. Download an Android emulator for PC:

Install the emulator:

Using SnapBridge on PC [Windows 10/ 11]:

Open the Emulator app you installed » goto its search bar and search "SnapBridge"
The search will reveal the SnapBridge app icon. Open, then click "Install".
Once SnapBridge is downloaded inside the emulator, locate/click the "All apps" icon to access a page containing all your installed applications including SnapBridge.

To get started, Download the OpenPC software »
- Upon installation, open OpenPC app » goto "Playstore on PC" » click "Configure_Download" button. This will auto-download and install PlayStore on your computer.

To use SnapBridge,
- Login to the PlayStore we just installed
- Search for "SnapBridge" » then Click "Install".

Advantages of the Snapbridge app:

Pairing is simple and convenient, it requires the set up to be made just once for continuing use
Images are automatically transferred from the camera to the smart devices as 2-MP (Full HD) images in JPEG format. Original-sized JPEGs can also be transferred. This prevents the need for constant connection, constant transfer, constant synching.
Sharing professional pictures to social media platforms and online stores is easier
The remote control feature allows you to confirm your shot before activating the shutter via the app.
Up to five cameras can be registered and easily switched between the cameras and connecting your Nikon
Snapbridge has low power consumption. It also has an additional power-saving mode that minimizes the battery usage of smart mobile devices.

Disadvantages:

Snapbridge can only be used with Nikon cameras.
If the camera is turned off, the app will go into a power-saving mode and may need to be woken up along with the camera. Given that mirrorless cameras use more power than DSLRs (and are more likely to be turned off to save battery), this can create some issues for keeping everything in sync.

Doesn't work with the flagship Nikon D850 or anything else

Really, Nikon? WMU works with the low end amateur cameras. Consistently. But this abysmal failure doesn't work at all. Why is it that Sony can consistently deliver connectivity, but Nikon can't offer a reasonable solution for their top of the line camera, or any other (I also have the D7500) body. It sometimes worked with version 1 of your software, requiring forgetting/deleting profile EVERY time, then signing up again each time to transfer 1-2 images. REALLY?!? What 75-year-old, out-of-touch engineer thinks this is a workable solution for a modern professional who is charged with social media duties? Now version 2 of this software just hangs and won't connect at all. Calling Nikon tech support doesn't lead to any solutions. As an NPS member, I'm embarrassed by this incredible blunder and complete failure. Wait for version 3 and don't buy a Nikon body until they can fix this, something that every other company can do. EDIT: With the latest update, snap bridge actually works the way it is supposed to. I have to completely change my review, as it actually works as promised, making the D850 the perfect camera for professionals! Took them a year, but someone is listening!
Designed to get you to use their cloud, not provide useful features

First it doesn’t support video for coolpix p1000. Why? It’s designed to get the content on your phone to tempt you to upload it to their cloud. You would not have any reason to do that if it used the cameras built in SD card. As a consequence of them not wanting to provide a useful app for remote control they are unable to stream video on the limited available bandwidth. When presented with the option of saving the footage on the device or not supporting it at all, they chose to not support it. The obsession every single company I interact with wanting to be a cloud provider while lacking the competencies to do so is frustrating. You make high quality cameras, do you not Nikon? Why can’t you focus on your core business, doing the best you can to create a high quality product and an app to fully support and show off those capabilities. Your greed to get into the big data business which you will never, ever manage to do successfully is now affecting your core business. A mindless decision of ineptitude or perhaps sheer negligence. I won’t buy another Nikon product, I’ll add you to the list of companies that have lost their way to seeing dollar signs in the perverse data collection obsession plaguing our society. Pathetic.
BRING BACK BLUETOOTH DOWNLOADS

Back when I got my B700 (first camera) in 2017 I absolutely loved using this app with the ability to download images off my camera through only Bluetooth (WiFi was only required for videos), I would tell everyone all about it and how much I loved the app and how convenient it was. Soon after when an update was released Bluetooth downloads was removed and now I’m forced to use the cameras WiFi connection, however for years now it’s been nothing but problems. The app will pair to the camera perfectly fine. I’m able to connect to the cameras WiFi with minimal-moderate issues however even when I am properly connected if I try to click download images I’m greeted with a lovely message saying “camera has refused access” I’ve been keeping this app up to date as well as my camera firmware and even iOS and over the course of approximately 2 years I’m still plagued with this issue and the love for this app has faded away. I used to live in an rf dead zone so interference plays no role. I have also tried resetting my camera. During all of this time I would estimate the chances of a successful connection to be something like 1/100 or less. It’s absurd. I wish I could go back to the 2017 version of this app :( (1.something I can’t remember)

Worked great for about a week but now I can not get the auto transfer to connect. I have disconnected, forgotten the devices all both camera and phone, deleted the app and re-downloaded, resetting all settings on the camera. I even tried waiting a day and doing everything all over again in case it needed time to reboot. I’ve tried disconnecting everything with my iPhone and trying to set up with my iPad but that does not transfer either. Nothing will work. I can hit the manual download option and it pulls up all of the pictures but then takes about 20 minutes to download just one picture. I’ve only had this camera for about a week so maybe I can get lucky and return it and try to find something that will actually work like it is supposed to! Very frustrated because I have wasted hours trying to get this to work. Also not helpful that there is literally nowhere to submit questions to get help with the app. Only an option to submit a comment where they can not respond back to you. I’ve never left a review on anything before but this was just so beyond irritating. Also annoying that there have been plenty of complaints with no solutions.
