1. The Nikon Manual Viewer 2 app is used to download and view manuals for Nikon SLR cameras.

2. Links are indicated by colored text: tapping a colored word or number takes you to the linked page.

3. Downloading the manual for your camera lets you access the instructions at any time, on line or off.

4. Tapping a manual in the library launches the viewer.

5. Depending on network conditions, download may take over 10 minutes.

Handy but.....

I had downloaded this app after purchasing the D5600. Going through the manuals I did not find the one for the D5600. I know the camera is a bit new, but it seems the app grabs the manuals online. I figured the D5500 would be a close match. Unfortunately when I went to download the the app, it failed every time.

As far as the core functionality of the app is concerned, it works just fine. I have two complaints about the available content. First is that not all manuals are available. For example, no DLSR lens manuals are available. As another example, the SB-700 the app mentions a separate "collection of example photos" but this is not included in the the app download (because it’s a separate document) and isn’t available for its own download. My second complaint is that not all manuals have page links. In some manuals, any place a page number is given, it’s a link you can tap to go directly to that page. This is an awesome feature for convenience. But not all manuals have page links like this.

Downloaded this despite the bad ratings. I have not had any problems downloading the manuals for any of my gear. I'm a pro photographer and have owned my business for over 5years. Sometimes we pros also need to refer to the the app for things we don't use too often, or simply when needing to find out what a particular error means on our gear. This app is perfect for viewing and searching my manuals on my iPad Air2. Bonus points to not having to go online every time I wish to view them as the manuals are downloaded directly into the app.

As an amateur-enthusiast photographer, I almost always carry my iPad along for back-up and reviewing. This is the first app that allows me to access a topic in a PDF the app quickly (and at multiple locations), follow cross-references (with step-back feature) and, course, search by keyword. A perfect way to "carry" manuals for your Nikon gear (camera & flash manuals are already available, hopefully lens manuals will follow shortly)! Of course it doesn't hurt that it's free, but I'd gladly pay a few $ for it now after I've used it for a while! Great job, Nikon! And hurry up with the remaining manuals😉
