  • The only workout app that actually works

    By DRackow (Pcmac user)

I’ve tried so many apps for tracking workouts, then I found out about this in the book “Bigger Leaner Stronger”. It actually does the things that you’d think were common sense, but so many apps get wrong. Make a workout plan, completely custom. It can be one day or multiple days. The app tracks the day and tells you what you have planned for that day. Not just a week, either. It can be whatever you need. I set up an eight week revolving schedule (and, yes, it knows to loop back around at the end). All major exercises are on the app, but you can add your own. It tracks weight and reps and remembers your entire history, so you will never have to think about what numbers you did last session. It knows! Rest between sets with a custom timer with alarm. Back out of the app and the timer keeps going and notifies you when it’s time to get back to work. Track your weight and body measurements. Set goals and see your progress. Please give this a try. Give it a week. Learn the interface, which is pretty easy and intuitive, and I really think you’ll love it.
  • Crashing and Enhancement Request

    By OldManUD (Pcmac user)

When using the app, I often use my phone for streaming music. Three days in a row I’ve had an issue where this app crashes when I relaunch it. When I put this app in the background to change music and I double tap the home button to list my open apps, the app relaunches exactly where I was with no issue. However, if I try to relaunch the app by clicking the App icon, it opens for a second and then crashes. I lose all my progress, notes, completed workouts, etc. Please fix!! This has happened near the end of my workouts requiring me to remember every rep and weight I did as well as any notes. An auto save-as-you-go feature would be nice in cases where the app crashes. If you reopen a workout it would take you right back. Would also love to be able to “cancel” a workout. I selected the wrong BLS routine today, had to close the app or complete the workout. Since I didn’t do that specific workout, I had to close the app and relaunch. A cancel workout option would be awesome for these instances.
  • Great companion app to book Bigger Leaner Stronger

    By traen1 (Pcmac user)

This is a solid app that is a good complement to the Bigger Leaner Stronger book, which I’ve been following for 2 years now. I had previously used the physical book version and loved the content but did find it cumbersome to carry around during workouts. Moreover, I felt paralyzed if I forgot the book. This app makes it super easy to track workouts and reference historical weights and reps. Pre-filled workouts: I’m confused where and which ones I should be using, so I just manually entered the 3-day workout from the workbook I had been using. User experience (UX) wise: visually this app looks nice, but still needs UX refinement. There are some clear UX issues that need refinement (e.g. it’s very hard to tell if you’ve actually proceed to the next set. The only thing that changes is the “Set <X>” text. The drag and drop visual effect looks nice but isn’t very intuitive, and the timer functionality is confusing. Fee wise: I like that it’s a 1-time fee vs. a monthly recurring fee. But I am a little concerned this means the app enhancements / revisions will be few and far between. Overall, this app is solid, and has enough useful functionality to be worth the purchase. I like the materials and philosophy of Michael Matthews and am happy to support his work.
  • User friendly

    By Zentuitive (Pcmac user)

I just started using it yesterday, and I like it. Very intuitive. One of the things I would like to see is the warm up sets automatically set once I enter my working set weight. This is a feature that I really like on the StrongLifts and Wendler apps. And my 72 year old eyes really have to squint to see what set I’m on. The font is extremely small. The guide book is an excellent resource. Instructions are clearly explained. Nice job. Your app makes it easy to set the weight and reps, and to add or delete exercises. It’s a really user friendly app with features the other apps I mentioned do not have, or it’s more difficult to use those features. I look forward to using it more. And thank you for allowing the user to try it out for 10 workouts for free. I’ll be updating to pro. Nothing worse than paying money for something that’s useless.
