Software Features and Description

1. ímesh, meaning "to walk" in Skwxwú7mesh snichim (Squamish Language), is a mobile app being developed by the Bill Reid Centre for Northwest Coast Studies at Simon Fraser University.

2. The app is a response to the university’s Community Engagement Strategy, and its Aboriginal Strategic Plan, and is intended to be a step, however small, toward decolonizing the university and the surrounding landscape.

3. The goal of the app is to communicate through experience, the unique worldviews represented by the Indigenous art on campus, and to create a stronger awareness of the Coast Salish territories on which SFU is situated.

4. Please note: Continued use of GPS running in the background can dramatically decrease battery life.

Install Ímesh app on your Windows in 4 steps below:

Download an Android emulator for PC:
Get either Bluestacks or the Nox App >> . We recommend Bluestacks because you can easily find solutions online if you run into problems while using it. Download Bluestacks PC software Here >> .

Install the emulator:
On your computer, goto the Downloads folder » click to install Bluestacks.exe or Nox.exe » Accept the License Agreements » Follow the on-screen prompts to complete installation.

Using Ímesh on PC [Windows 10/ 11]:

Open the Emulator app you installed » goto its search bar and search "Ímesh"
The search will reveal the Ímesh app icon. Open, then click "Install".
Once Ímesh is downloaded inside the emulator, locate/click the "All apps" icon to access a page containing all your installed applications including Ímesh.
Now enjoy Ímesh on PC.

For Windows 11, check if there's a native Ímesh Windows app here » ». If none, follow the steps below:

To get started, Download the OpenPC software »
- Upon installation, open OpenPC app » goto "Playstore on PC" » click "Configure_Download" button. This will auto-download and install PlayStore on your computer.

To use Ímesh,
- Login to the PlayStore we just installed
- Search for "Ímesh" » then Click "Install".
- Ímesh will now be available on your Windows start-menu.
