1. Study data are stored at IRMACS Centre at Simon Fraser University in Burnaby (BC) Canada.
2. The BADAS (Bipolar Affective Disorder and older Adults) study app is a research tool designed for iPhone and iPad.
3. Within defined time windows, the BADAS app prompts participants to report their mood-in-the-moment, sleep quality, medication adherence and any significant events of the day.
4. The BADAS study will enable clinicians and researchers gain better understanding the health and well-being of persons with bipolar disorder.
5. Data are transmitted anonymously and stored on a secure university server.
6. Participants receive $1 each day after submitting prompted EMS questionnaires and $20 for completing monthly online questionnaires.
7. These brief EMS (Ecological Momentary Sampling) questionnaires are time- and GPS-stamped.
8. If out of range, responses are temporarily stored in devices when out of WiFi or LTE range.
9. Participants need to have a PayPal account (or can be donated to charity).
10. This will allow us to examine symptom variability and geographic factors.
11. Participation in the study is entirely voluntary.
