Bait and switch by devs.

I’ve played this game for years, having finished everything on one profile. Was a great game. Recent updates removed the ability to save and load anytime, a specifically advertised feature of the premium app. Instead, it has been replaced with a auto save system combined with a heavy penalty for dying that will often be enough to end your game. Like, being teleported thousands of kilometers from your loot, having your vehicle and all fuel taken, having heavy penalties and debuffs applied to make scavenging harder, having all food and water taken, as well as all of your pots for cooking. Being left in an area you’ve already looted so there’s nothing to find. Just really rage inducing. If I wanted such a heavy death penalty, I would’ve checked the one life option. Before these last few updates, you could save your game, try something new, and then load if it didn't work out. Now, you can be ambushed and lose everything, bricking the profile. I won’t even get into losing 90% of my caps and the store turning into loot boxes all of a sudden. Sad to see a great game go this way. Super tedious grind now, plus the chance of losing everything anyway. Plus, now you can lose everything at your camp with the “while you away” event that happens even if you left everything in a wooden house in a safe haven and didn’t die. Poor choice.

This game is total trash if you’re starting anew. It is extremely grindy since the dev made every resource run out fast. If you follow storyline at one point you will be stuck at one quest which require you a car, which require you at certain level which you can never achieve at that point. If you want to level up at reasonable phase you need to find exp books which gives you 25 exp(doubled if you’re using 5 dollars per the app in real time double exp bonus). To collect the books you need various tools which breaks in few uses, few kilograms per each. To collect and carry tools, foods, resources you need motorized bicycle with cart which require to be fixed every trip between cities, and also takes up the fuel. To collect everything you need you have to visit the radioactive cities and collect the limited valuable resources. While doing so you need to control your radiation which will never be cured as the time pass. The seemingly free resource water lower radiation by 1, but actually water requires your time, energy, and a durability of your pen. Oh, and it’s auto save even though they promised me free saves when purchasing the premium version. Long point short, unless you can, and willing to spend thousands of dollars into this, don’t play this.

Before I found this game, I was looking for something almost like it, I played other survival games but none was like this, I played for months, I died, had to back track, had to go to places for one thing, just double back to to the same city, all of which made the game even more fun.. but then the updates, even with the money I spent to play better or get a little over powered, after a couple of updates, that wasn’t the case anymore all of everything I had was gone, even my profiles I saved to iCloud was gone everything was just gone, an had to started all over again an again, because through the updates the app started to crash/timeout.. (even as a premium player things was breaking up not working as it suppose too) Now I mean it’s still good, could use some of the old aspects in play style an what you can an can not do, something’s has been nerfed in my own opinion or just taking out completely which upsets me because it gives you something to work up to, overall it’s a good app game but just could some adjustments...also again with all the money spent an in game/real time hours it still upsets me a lot that I have to start all over again an no iCloud profiles either
Vastly Improved Over the Years

I played first time a couple years ago and I didn’t even find it glitchy then. I play with Ultra graphics on a 6S+. Not sure why others have problems. I had found the story to be slow and not captivating enough back then but a while ago the devs completely redid the delivery of the main story. It comes in short and sweet bursts and in my opinion is thought provoking and deep. They tweaked very important aspects of the game to make it more realistic. Now it’s exactly what I looked for in the first place. I’m a huge realism buff and every detail is vital to my immersion so you wouldn’t be disappointed by this game. My only complaint is the struggle I went through raising a wolf. It can’t be given commands or just told to “stay” at least, so for the first few months battling is completely oriented towards keeping it alive which doesn’t make sense. Even when the wolf grows, there is no way to go around the wolf even though all enemies merrily hop over each other. Too many instances of the wolf getting stuck in the hallway not moving because enemies are blocked off or the wolf rushing into a hallway and blocking me from attacking, and getting mowed down. There is one room I have to take damage from a mine just to keep the wolf from getting to the hallway before me. It shouldn’t be a race 😂 Side note: Born in Barnaul so it was trippy visiting the city in a game, thanks devs! Amazing creation!
