What is Easy2Hike?

Easy2Hike is a mobile app designed to enhance the experience of nature park visitors. It provides relevant park data, including the location of interesting sites, the best routes between them, and the availability of drinking water and picnic tables. The app also offers easy orientation/navigation in the park, offline maps, smart notifications, and a safety corridor feature to ensure visitors' safety.

Software Features and Description

1. The Easy2Hike mobile app shows nature park visitors all the relevant park data; where they can find the most interesting sites, the best route between them and also where they can get drinking water or find the picnic tables.

2. Smart Notifications - To make sure you keep your eyes on the nature around you and not on your mobile screen, we have developed smart notifications that pop-up the relevant information only when you reach the points of interest (POIs).

5. Offline Maps - pre-download routes, including all data to use when there is no cellular reception.

Download and install the Easy2Hike app on your Windows 10,8,7 or Mac in 4 simple steps below:

Download an Android emulator for PC and Mac:

Install the emulator on your PC or Mac:
On your computer, goto the Downloads folder » click to install Bluestacks.exe or Nox.exe » Accept the License Agreements » Follow the on-screen prompts to complete installation.

Using Easy2Hike on PC [Windows 7/ 8/8.1/ 10/ 11]:

Open the Emulator app you installed » goto its search bar and search "Easy2Hike"
The search will reveal the Easy2Hike app icon. Open, then click "Install".
Once Easy2Hike is downloaded inside the emulator, locate/click the "All apps" icon to access a page containing all your installed applications including Easy2Hike.

Download the Amazon-Appstore » (U.S only)
- Click on "Get" to begin installation. It also automatically installs Windows Subsystem for Android.
- After installation, Goto Windows Start Menu or Apps list » Open the Amazon Appstore » Login (with Amazon account)

For non-U.S users, Download the OpenPC software »
- Upon installation, open OpenPC app » goto Playstore on PC » click Configure_Download. This will auto-download Google Play Store on your Windows 11.

Installing Easy2Hike:
- Login to your computer's PlayStore or Amazon AppStore.

- The need to constantly tap "search this area" every time the map is scrolled makes the app virtually unusable.

- Lacks specific information about hikes within parks, such as elevation gain, parking information, shade/sun exposure, creek crossings, and reviews from other hikers.

- The maps are not helpful and the different pinpoints are confusing.

The app uses my location all the time, even though I specify “only when I’m using it.” You can tell because when the app goes to the background there’s still a blue mark on the top part of the screen meaning it’s still tracking my location unnecessarily. It’s not that hard for the developers to fix so I’m not sure why it isn’t corrected. That plus having to constantly tap the “search this area” every time I scroll the map makes this app virtually unusable.
Not helpful for planning hikes

While I appreciate the overview of park information, I wanted to use this app to get information about specific hikes within the parks and plan accordingly. It would be helpful to see not just mileage and rating, but elevation gain, parking information, whether it’s shady or sunny, creek crossings, etc. And I always like to read reviews and feedback from other hikers. I also don’t find the maps helpful in the current state. I don’t understand what all the different pinpoints are when I’m looking at the route. Unfortunately I won’t be using this map for my outdoor adventure planning and recommendations.

I would consider myself by no means an expert or professional weekend warrior hiker. For that reason - this app has been amazing helping navigate which trails and places to go! Never hiking without it.
