Great tool for inserting CREATE DATE in the file name

I had a bunch of video files that I wanted to rename. You know the type - the cryptic, completely unhelpful IMG_0437.MOV type of App names. I wanted to rename them all with the video creation date as part of the App name, like this: “Video yyyy-mm-yy-HH-mm-ss.mov”. app makes this a piece of cake. You set up your renaming rules in the main panel, than drag a folder into the panel. The app then renames all the files in the folder. I am giving this app five stars beause it did exactly what I wanted it to. It has other options to rename files in other ways, but I didn’t use them. I will say the configuration settings take a little getting used to. You’ll have to play with them a bit to get what you want. But that’s still much better than doing hundreds of App name changes manually.

First time I’ve ever asked App store for a refund

This app is really bad. The user interface is stupid. The program is designed to change tons of files yet it’s incredibly difficult to even see the files loaded. It only allows so many files to be seen. And the whole ‘drag and drop’ thing is really gimmicky. Why not just open a Finder like interface? Also, I couldn’t figure out how to change folder names. When I loaded ‘Preferences’ and nothing came up I decided it was time to delete this app and ask for a refund.

Ran with the latest OS Sierra 10.12.5.

Worked well for me to rename pictures and video files (JPG and MP4) with data and time of creation. Worked better than my old PC program for renaming files. Ran with the latest OS Sierra 10.12.5.

Works great on El Capitan. Very happy with the product. Needs a bit playing around but after a short period of time you know how it works. Just use the preview so you see how it would look after the change.

I LOVE this program. It does one thing—rename files—and it does it superbly. I use it to rename all of my media files, using a system that includes a date, a serial number, and a code. This program has multiple options for how to pull metadata from your files to include in the title, as well as an option to include your own custom text. You can add these attributes in any order you wish. Once you get it set up, you can use the same set-up over and over, and it’s speedy—it will rename several hundred files in less than a minute. I’ve used it for about 100,000 files so far. For my workflow, digital asset management starts here.
