What is DWD WarnWetter? The WarnWetter App is a weather app offered by the DWD National Meteorological Service of Germany. It provides current warning situations for Germany down to municipal level, warnings about natural hazards, predicted trajectories of thunderstorm cells, coast warnings, and lake warnings for Bavarian lake and Lake Constance. The app also offers features such as configurable widgets, different wind speed units, light/dark design, and a customizable start page for favorite products. The app can be expanded to a full version with additional features through a one-time in-app purchase.
1. • User reports: Display of various weather events (thunderstorms, wind, tornado, etc.) plus the option of adding a user report with photo function.
2. • Social media sharing function for sharing information from the WarnWetter App e.g. via Facebook, Twitter or e-mail.
3. • Map function to display the current weather situation and a forecast up to 7 days in advance.
4. • Model forecasts for warning-relevant events such as storm, persisting or heavy precipitation.
