What is Grow Ops?
The app is a game that takes the user back in time to the year 1996 when California legalized the use, possession, and cultivation of marijuana for medical purposes. The user plays the role of a young hippie named Sky who has a vision to transform his parent's basement into a weed grow-op. The game involves planting and growing new marijuana strains, meeting and interacting with customers, expanding the business, and customizing the basement operation. The user must also be aware of crooked cops, needy family members, and even a priest who wants in on the action.
1. On Nov 6, 1996 when Macarena was the hottest single of the year, California removes state-level criminal penalties on the use, possession and cultivation of marijuana by patients who possess a "written or oral recommendation" from their physician that he or she "would benefit from medical marijuana." According to the Department of Public Health you were "allow" to grow up to 6 mature marijuana plants.
