Server time outs

Since New Years weekend, the app has been having a lot of trouble starting up. The "Loading" screen just continues on and on. I believe it's having trouble contacting the servers because if you let it go long enough (10 mins or more) it eventually gives up, and says it can't connect. This limits game play. The problem happens on a variety of wifi and LTE connections. It improved last week but is having problems again this week. Frustrating. Rating it 3 stars for now. Will up to 5 once the technical issues are resolved.
Why a pay to play?

The game is really fun at the start but no matter what you do, after your first 15 minutes you reach this barrier of races that are impossible to beat. It seems that the only way to pass that part is to pay money. About 20 dollars according to one person. Plus the part system is funky. It’s super hard to get the parts you need. I’m okay with that but I HATE the pay to play idea of the game. I still might play this game but it’s really stupid that you did that. Why take such a great game and make it a money magnet?
Great game with fatal flaws

The slopestyle part of this game is SUPER fun and well designed but the enduro/downhill has a fatal flaw where you're racing ghosts of other riders. It makes it twice as hard to get Good flow going. You have one, maybe two chances to get a run in before it's crowded with shadows and then it's nearly impossible to improve because you can't even see. If your drop-in is good and you get out ahead of them you have a chance but even then it's just a mess. I only play the slopesstyle now. edit: SERIOUSLY. THE DOWNHILL GHOSTS ARE KILLING THIS GAME.
I can't get past the fifth race in just the first chapter

It's weird and frustrating that I can't get past the first SLOPESTYLE race. I earned my slopestyle teammate but I can't select him because I haven't "completed the full tutorial" which is bull. So playing as my level 1 self on a level 3 track is not so fun. After every try, I don't get a single point which is obviously because I can't play the right teammate. Please fix this. Then every time I come back to play the game, all of my progress is gone. Then I have to go back and learn the basics again and again.
