I was in the homebrew store picking up ingredients for my first brew in about a year, so I didn't have an app on my phone anymore. I started checking through the App Store to tell me how my Hefeweizen would turn out, chose the ingredients that wouldn't give me about a 1054 gravity with about 20 IBUs. I ended up with was about a 1070 gravity, so I downloaded the Brewer's Friend app to see if I might be able to get an idea of why my gravity was so high. When I plugged in my ingredients into Brewer's Friend it told me that my gravity would be 1069. Imagine that. It also says that I will end up with 49 IBUs. Now I have changed the name of my recipe to Hoppy Hefe, and I am deleting this app and keeping Brewer's Friend. It even gives me the option for whirlpooling when I add my hops and how many IBUs I'll end up with when I do that. The choice is clear...
