What is Shape Lab?

Shape Lab is an iPad app that allows students and teachers to explore shape and measurement concepts in an open-ended sandbox environment. The app uses advanced shape recognition technology to enable students to draw, manipulate, and investigate shapes directly on the screen. The app can be used for a range of classroom activities, including creating pictures using shapes, investigating and composing patterns and tessellations, exploring measurement, area, perimeter, fractions, congruence, and angles, and more. The app also provides access to lesson plans online and allows users to join the Shape Lab community to share their ideas.

Install Shape Lab app on your Windows in 4 steps below:

Download an Android emulator for PC:
Get either Bluestacks or the Nox App >> . We recommend Bluestacks because you can easily find solutions online if you run into problems while using it. Download Bluestacks PC software Here >> .

Install the emulator:
On your computer, goto the Downloads folder » click to install Bluestacks.exe or Nox.exe » Accept the License Agreements » Follow the on-screen prompts to complete installation.

Using Shape Lab on PC [Windows 10/ 11]:

Open the Emulator app you installed » goto its search bar and search "Shape Lab"
The search will reveal the Shape Lab app icon. Open, then click "Install".
Once Shape Lab is downloaded inside the emulator, locate/click the "All apps" icon to access a page containing all your installed applications including Shape Lab.
Now enjoy Shape Lab on PC.

To get started, Download the OpenPC software »
- Upon installation, open OpenPC app » goto "Playstore on PC" » click "Configure_Download" button. This will auto-download and install PlayStore on your computer.

To use Shape Lab,
- Login to the PlayStore we just installed
- Search for "Shape Lab" » then Click "Install".
- Shape Lab will now be available on your Windows start-menu.

The App Needs Work

I love a lot of the features on the app the cut and reflection options are wonderful for showing why the certain formulas for shapes hold true. But it would be nice to have the shapes lock together when they are set next to each other. Also it would great if you could resize the shapes so that way they are not huge where you could make chains of shapes so that way you could fit more on the page.
