  • Wish I hadn’t updated to the latest version

We use the DLink baby camera/monitor and app. Just downloaded the new version of the app and while the new interface is slick and offers the option for enhanced picture quality (720p), we lost two valuable features from the old app. First, you can now no longer hear sound when the app is not actively displayed on the iPhone screen. (For example, if you try to toggle to another app or lock the screen to just listen to the room noise without video, the sound goes off— major problem for us.) Secondly, we depended heavily on the pre-loaded lullabies in the other app (#4 worked like a charm!) Whenever the baby would start to stir, we would use one of these to trigger him to go back to sleep. Please please bring these features back! We’re awaiting baby #2 and we were planning to continue to use our My D Link Monitor, but the loss of these two features are deal-breakers and we will switch to another monitor for the new baby if not fixed.
  • Improved UI, worse performance

    By haifeng (Pcmac user)

The good: The new ui looks much better and makes a lot more sense. Though in my opinion could still be a little simpler. Feels like an app from 2018 (notice I didn’t say 2019) rather than the older version that hadn’t had a visual refresh for like 4 years, that being said, a LOT of bugs have been introduced. Here’s some of my bugs/ feature requests The bad: 1. Please default to local WiFi connection on the app instead of remote, it saves a lot of bandwidth for those of us with data caps (even on LAN) 2. When I try to open my local camera, I have to click to open it multiple times before it actually connects and shows the the stream. It almost always connects to the remote first time, but local is seriously lacking in its ability to connect 3. MOST IMPORTANT! The audio quits the app as soon as I lock my phone. This kinda defeats the purpose of having a baby cam that I can listen to my child at all times, not just receive push notifications. Audio should persist even after I’ve locked my phone or switched apps. I’ve kept an old iPad on the old version because that’s the only way we can keep the audio going all night and hear what’s going on in the kids room. While that app felt and and still relatively buggy, it’s more stable than this new version.
  • No longer works with latest update & new features

    By Stefc78 (Pcmac user)

I can no longer connect to WiFi and my camera is not located. After spending 3 hours doing multiple things nothing works. Out of the 100 times I tried to connect my camera, it came up twice and asked me for my password. I entered my password and then the app proceeded to tell me I need to verify and an email will be sent to me. NEVER got an email. I’ve had this device for 3 years with no problem and now it’s a piece of crap. Whoever redesigned this app is not very intelligent. the app will be spending more time on the phone with support calls and it’ll waste everyone’s time. I relied on this app and camera on a daily basis and now I’m screwed. Great job guys!
  • DO NOT WASTE YOUR MONEY

    By Sparkles333 (Pcmac user)

Had this camera for about 8 months.. it was never great but it worked. It would take forever for the camera to load on the app and it would often crash. But eventually it would load. After the recent update the camera just stopped working. It doesn't connect to the wifi network anymore. Reset it about 10 times.. gone through the reinstall process and at the end it says camera not found on the network. A waste of over $200. Stick to Motorola instead (over 3 years and no issues!). Called customer support and they want me to pay AGAIN for them to troubleshoot it since I didn't keep the receipt. Don't bother with it!
