Machines at War 3 is a real-time strategy game that offers 21 campaign missions with an intriguing story, over 130 different types of units and technologies, unlimited random map skirmishes with customizable settings, and network multiplayer with friends. The game is praised for its smooth playing experience, engaging campaign, and homage to retro RTS games.

Game Features and Description

1. Hello, my name is James, I'm an indie developer and programmed 100% of Machines at War 3 over the last two and a half years! It was quite the undertaking and I almost gave up several times, but through bad times and good, I'm excited this real time strategy game is done! I hope you enjoy it and if so please let me know, sometimes when things are tough an email or review from a customer really helps.

2. After honing your skills in the campaign, fire up a random map and experience insane real time strategy battles! Choose your nation and test your mettle in online multiplayer or conquer some AI opponents offline.

3. It reminds many real time strategy gamers of command and conquer, starfront, and similar RTS elements as modern war, and war of nations.

4. In 21 real time strategy missions you'll race across the world to find out who, or what, is responsible for the team's disappearance.

5. You'll command and conquer over 130 different types of RTS units ranging from infantry and ships to giant modern mega units.

6. You investigate a secluded military lab and find something horribly wrong! All of the scientists are missing and the facility is ransacked.

7. Now there's only one person who can rescue the Omicron Initiative and protect its secret technology from falling into the wrong hands.

8. The missing scientists, known as the Omicron Initiative, are responsible for developing new technologies.

9. The team's disappearance threatens the secrecy of it's research, which could potentially put your country into a chaotic panic.

10. Years of research and top secret classified experiments are no where to be found.

11. The only clue to their disappearance is a mysterious text message reading "we were forced to do it".

  • Great RTS

    By Skagabomb1234 (Pcmac user)

Keeping in mind the limitation a touch screen has vs a PC, this real time strategy game makes due. From a top down perspective, the app At War 3 gives an expansive field of view with a large array of land, air, sea, and sub troops and the app to build and command. They are continuously expanding those choices and there are seriously a great amount to choose from. Plenty of buildings to build your base with as well, plus research and defense buildings as well. Most similar to Command and Conquer given the unit types, this plays just like the favorites: Warcraft, Starcraft, C&C, Age of Mythology, Warlords, etc. It even includes story and skirmish modes, for if you want a plot or just want to build and go to war. The biggest plus is it's buy once and never pay again. And no ridiculous build wait times (similar to aforementioned RTS games). Definitely purchase this game.
  • Has a simple but crippling issue

    By J jjjjjjjjjjj (Pcmac user)

I’ve loved RTS games for as long as I can remember. I’ve played command and conquer, starcraft, and supreme commander. This game tries to be like those games but it isn’t able to. Of course there are platform limitations but that’s not the main reason. The issue with this game simple. Everything in this game has far too much damage and not enough health. In games like command and conquer you could always strategize and if your plan doesn’t work, you could always retreat for another attack. In this game, the units die so fast that you have no time to retreat or to circle around a base to get out of the range of defenses. This means players are only left with the option to spam because positioning and strategization is almost impossible. Giving units less damage and more health would make the game a lot more enjoyable. TLDR: Units have too much damage and not enough hp which makes it hard to position them before they all get mowed down and also makes the game a lot less fun.
  • All around great game

    By Peter Sammons (Pcmac user)

This is by far the best mobile RTS game I have ever played. A wholesome campaign along with very customizable skirmish modes. I have hundreds of hours on this game as no battle is exactly alike. Once you purchase this, there are no other purchases and no ads. The longest round I have played took 16 hours. This makes it perfect for long trips. I play on an iPhone 6 and there is no lag. Each side can have up to 1000 units, which makes for epic gameplay. However, there are some annoying bugs with the AI. They can build buildings which cannot be built by the player which allow them to make units restricted by modifiers. (In infantry only, they can spawn air units and other vehicles). The AI can also build anywhere on the map, which is not supposed to happen. Other than that, a very fun and addicting game.
  • If you loved Command & Conquer...

    By DavidHammett (Pcmac user)

then you will love this game. The only good RTS game on iOS that I could find like C&C which you can play offline. It is really good, but there's some things that could make it even better. First I'd recommend adding the option of having different factions which have different buildings/units even if it's only a mostly cosmetic change for most. Second, a map creator mode would be awesome. Third, the graphics remind me of Red Alert, good but could be better (possibly in the next iteration of this game?). One last request, a toggle to zoom OUT (or IN for smaller devices) would be great. Playing on a 12.9 inch iPad, I think being able to see a little more of the battlefield would be a great feature. I hope to see more from this developer!
