What is iSolarSystemAR?
The iSolar System app is a free augmented reality app that brings the solar system to life. It is designed to be used with the iSolar System book, and allows users to see planets, moons, and spaceships in 3D. The app features a range of interactive experiences, including driving the Mars Rover, flying a survey plane across the surface of Mars, and exploring a future moon base. Users can also take pictures of themselves with planets orbiting their head or the Mars Rover climbing their lap.
1. If you’ve got the iSolar System book, download this FREE Augmented Reality app to see planets, moons and spaceships spring up from the page into 3D life.
2. Move your device around the animation to see an entire 360-degree view, and experiment with pinch, swipe and zoom to focus on different parts of the image.
3. To activate the AR animations, look for the blue Augmented Reality boxes in the pages of the iSolar System book.
4. In the Solar System animation, you can focus in on each planet and change the speed of their rotation using toolbar buttons.
5. The Mars Rover is completely driveable, with touch screen commands to steer it and fire at rocks to sample their chemical content.
6. This FREE app is available to anyone with an AR compatible iPhone/iTouch/iPad with a camera.
