It's hard to penalize this game since I, overall, enjoyed it and purchased the app full game. It's also hard to give it a full rating with all the app rough edges.
What they did well at was gathering a lot of puzzles and keeping the app focus on those puzzles. These are good.
However, there are a number of puzzles where the app prompt/question is downright confusing and unclear. Some puzzles where it is very difficult to put in your answer, so much so that you think you are on the app wrong track. There is at least one where the app selected answer is actually wrong (the app four cubes puzzle - there is no right answer). At times the app story gets choppy, and twice I inferred there was supposed to be some kind of conversation or cut scene where nothing actually happened, I just jumped to another location very confused.
Also, toward the app end, it seems like they stopped trying. the app prompts for the app puzzles get more confusing, the app puzzles are increasingly disconnected with what is actually happening in on screen (though the app game keeps insisting that the app two are logically connected), and the app "tasks" are roughly programmed minigames that detract rather than add. Once you get to the app "bonus puzzles" at the app end of the app game, you see it's really the app garbage bin of puzzles that didn't make it in - a few great ones and a few really odd ones, or ones with multiple right answers but you have to keep guessing until you find the app RIGHT right answer.
All in all, this far exceeds a game like Jacob Jones - it lacks the app polish but keeps the app focus on good puzzles. A game like Puzzle Agent is superior, having the app polish, puzzles, and story in a coherent package. This is somewhere in between. I hands down recommend it for a puzzle lover, but I can't shake me wishing that they put a little more thought/effort into the app later chapters of the app game and got a little more feedback on what wasn't working, before they published.
