Software Features and Description

1. To create a modern iPhone and iPad application, you need to provide icons in 14 different sizes.

2. For a modern macOS application, you must provide icons in 10 different sizes.

3. You can use the QuickIcon to create icons without preview or click Generate to see how your icons look in different sizes before exporting.

4. IconFly will create all sizes of app icons for you automatically.

5. IconFly also creates web page headers and a manifest file for Web Clip icons and Android web icons.

6. IconFly also supports Appiconset for the previous versions starting from macOS 10.8, iOS 7, and watchOS 1.

7. You can save the Appiconset generated by IconFly directly to the Assets Catalog inside your project, and it's ready to use with no additional steps.

8. Just import an image, and IconFly will take care of the rest so you can save your time for more important things.

9. It contains all the necessary icon dimensions and a properly formatted JSON file.

10. It can be rather tedious and time-consuming to create those files manually.

11. But with IconFly, it takes a few seconds.

  • Needs a little more spit and polish, but works

Ran into a NULL pointer error shortly after using it ( I was experimenting with rounded corners ). Impressed with the variations, but the scaled down icons appeared blurry in some cases, wasn’t expecting that at all given the size and initial sharpness of the base image. Loved the fact that one could preview in the dock. On one panel previews don’t show, although it appears the control that shows them on that pane is inverted. I like the export feature, I do not like the ear-piercing bell, nor its duration, when an export completes — which is fairly instaneous. This app isn’t a must-have, because you can do what it’s doing yourself fairly easily with almost any image tool out there. However, I can certainly see the utility behind the concept — assuming the above issues get addressed (and I’m sure they will) — where it could be a decent time saver. It is just on the tipping point of being something one might want to have hanging from their developer toolbelt. The app is begging for a few experimental filters, as well as the ability to reposition a non-square image around in real-time.
  • Fast and powerful

This app is great for me to test my icon designs in multiple sizes. But the good thing is that this tool outputs a stack of Xcode-friendly and App Store-ready images. This is so greate because the visualization of the desing is been tested on a actual icon format and size.
  • A nice tool that makes icon files easy

It is really a wrapper around resizing an image into the myriad ways you have to resize it and put it all into an icns file. Certainly worth the price in time savings.
  • Not quite. . .

I was looking for an “all-in-one” Icon creator and this falls short in a couple of areas. 1] I was hoping to make rounded icons like for the iOS and this does not do it. You still need to create it in another app and then import it to this app. 2] The masks are fairly cheesy. More of a novelty really. And as most pointed out it would cause problems with the OS trying to display it correctly without some “irregularities”. and lastly 3] I could do without the obnoxious bell export sound. BUT It does what it basically supposed to do. Had I the chance to think again I would not have paid XXX-amount for this app. I would have kept looking. Ah well, hindsite is 20/20 right?
