I’ve been using this app for years now and the new update just came out and it fixed a lot of problems I had before. The app is now a lot easier to use one handedly if you’ve got a huge phone. It looks gorgeous with the new update and it’s easy to navigate again. My only problem is although it looks amazing, it’s tries to mimic reddit a little bit and you can tell what notifications are new and which are old, basically first world problems that kinda waste time and hurt the eyes trying to find the good stuff.

Definitely loving the new update after they fixed the annoying scrolling bug however there are still issues that need to be addressed but I will only discuss two that I didn’t find highlighted in other reviews. 1. Video playback freezes when using the scrub bar and sometimes I get just audio when scrubbing while the video remains frozen. 2. What adds to that frustration is the fact that you need sniper aim with your finger on the scrub bar otherwise you just end up enabling the side menu (right swipe) or a different feed (left swipe) when fast forwarding or rewinding a video. Would be cool if there was an option to disable the swipe gestures all together because I find myself accidentally enabling them sometimes when scrolling the feed. Maybe when the swiping is disabled there could instead be two buttons on each side to activate them or the easier fix is maybe enabling it only when a user swipes closer to the bezel only and not anywhere on the app. Not sure if devs see our devices along with our reviews but just in case, I’m on an iPhone X with the latest software and I get the video freezing issue on both WiFi and LTE. And yes I have tried countless times reinstalling the app and deleting any pertinent history of the app off my phone as well as the app’s cache in the settings menu before I do a reinstall.

This app became very visually unappealing. As I’m reading through I notice most and best reviews addressing actual issues are still rating 5 stars. How is that going to improve this app? Scrolling and viewing posts is different it seems we’re taking steps back because now you can’t scroll left and right, any sort of settings regarding your profile are not working. Why do I need to wait 6 days to change my profile picture yet you don’t have a problem selecting a random one for me before the 6 days is up? Everything is so SLOW and SLUGGISH, it seems SLOWER, less user friendly, you end up in the APP STORE about 15 times while using the app for 5 minutes because the ads and ad placement is just atrocious. Comments do not always post, the whole comment section of posts became worse and once again visually unappealing. Everything seems out of order and it’s so hard to view your notifications and know what is new and what is old. Is this 2008? It seems we went back 10 years.

I understand a free app needs ad service to remain free; however, it’s beginning to affect how the app works. There are ads posted after every three posts and always an add at the bottom of the screen, which again, is completely fine. What I cannot stand is ads will also take over the screen randomly as you’re using it and will happen within 2-5 min of using the app. On multiple occasions, however, i was forced to close the app and reopen it as the ads could not be clicked out of. I’ve been using this app for years but I seriously think I’m done after seeing how ad service has more priority than the actual users. Way to go this app, you sold out in the hopes people will pick up your overpriced “Pro” version while leaving the free users to use a broken app that essentially is a way for you to solely receive ad revenue. Fix your mess and go back to being the hub for a wonderful community.
