Top Pcmac Reviews

  • I was a fan of this app, but beware of their updates

    By Sharp0 (Pcmac user)

I was a fan of this app and publication but now with their updated app I have lost 6 years of stored previous purchases. I have contacted the publisher and they say they have no record of my account. I have even sent them confirmation from my iTunes billing showing the automatic subscription renewals for the past 6 years. The publisher says they have no record details since it is an iTunes subscription purchase. So beware, you may end up losing years of stored issues archives when they update their app. This is the problem with “the app purchases” you own nothing. At least with a physical copy of a book or magazine you have something and don’t have to be concerned with a publisher changing something in their app and you lose all your purchases and then they say it’s and iTunes problem when it clearly worked before they changed their app. If I could give this a zero I would.
  • Love the content - hate the way it displays on my iPad.

    By Coongeo (Pcmac user)

Like many, love the information and inspirational photography. However the way photos that go across two pages are displayed is terrible. Hopefully the new owner, Raspberry Pi Press understands the importance of a good user experience and gets this fixed. Update - tried to contact the magazine editor, content manager and the manager at Pi Press - no response and apparently no interest in fixing the problem. How can a photographic magazine not fix such a major flaw?
  • Path of Least Resistance

    By CitySpinsAround (Pcmac user)

I greatly enjoy the content this magazine provides, but the app leaves much to be desired. For starters, the content is more or less a straight the app copy of the print magazine. This makes viewing on the iPad awkward since you're constantly having to double tap to zoom and then scroll to see the content once you've zoomed. There is also no interactive content, video, or anything else that leverages the iOS platform. Content on the iPad opens up a lot of possibilities, both for content developers and readers. As far as I can tell, this app took the path of least resistance here and didn't innovate whatsoever. They should take a look at Guitarist Deluxe for inspiration.
  • Great content, poorly ececuted

    By PDXRay (Pcmac user)

I love the content that this publication provides, but their expertise clearly does not extend to delivering that high quality through this app. It's basically the equivalent of a PDF of every page. You have to constantly be zooming in and out to read articles or view different sized images, and the tap to zoom function was really poorly executed. You don't zoom accurately to a tapped text area or image, and always need to manually adjust the zooming. These kinds of issues make it worthless to purchase the app content. Save your money for the print version until they manage to improve this substantially.
