I spoke with the builder and here is how to fix the opening crash. Before you start the game you must be connected to the internet and connected to GAME CENTRAL.

Adds on screen block dragons and eggs so you can't kill them. After clicking the adds they seem to disappear, GREAT!!! Oh wait, the add just switches to a random side of the screen different from start, and here is the best part, the add goes invisible and stays in areas you can't click dragons and eggs.....terrible. Come on man.
