  • Warn me a little, <expletive>

By Kitten Farm West (Pcmac user)

The purpose of the program is to pause the user while they work, but it is naive and interupts the user -- grabbing focus should come with a warning, such as a unique tone or notice. The program grabbing the keyboard with NO warning is extremely stressful if user is say in the middle of a password or other important string. This is made worse by the lack of sound; if the user is looking down, the first notice of the app kicking in is that text is lost (possibly causing an alert). It should give a notice visibly or audibly of pending loss of focus so the user can pause at THEIR moment in the next (configurable) number seconds, not be interupted. Better still, the app could (within reason) use accessibility feaures to determine the user has slowed their typing and THEN pause. (Yes, the program can be configured to not grab focus at all, but this is not as effective for the user. Just WARN me, please.)
  • Fantastic for CTS/RSI

    By bagsonbags (Pcmac user)

I suffer from carpal tunnel syndrome in my right wrist, and this application is absolutely indispensible. It’s a simple idea, but so incredibly well executed that it’s worth pretty much any amount they’d charge. At the base level, it makes you take short breaks often and a long break every hour or so — this is demonstrably good for people suffering from RSI/CTS. It’s very intelligent about detecting “natural breaks” (i.e. moments when you’re not using the keyboard) and will incorporate those natural pauses into its timers, meaning you can skip some short breaks if you took them anyway. This helps you stay more productive / focused by eliminating redundant breaks. If you have RSI/CTS, you already know how much of an impact it has on your life. Software like this helps you manage these chronic problems. Well worth installing.
  • Must have for the RSI afflicted

    By Low71 (Pcmac user)

I've had this program for years now and it keeps my RSI at bay. Highly recommended for anyone with or without problems. I just wish it would keep tabs on how much i've typed over the course of the day, like WorkRave which I've used on my linux machines. This new version is a nice update to v2.0.
  • Perfect level of interruption

    By Bjrubble (Pcmac user)

I really love the notification system used by this app. Every other similar app either: - pops up a small notification that I never notice or - pops up a modal dialog that steals my keystrokes or otherwise totally interrupts my work This does a perfect job of making itself noticed but still allowing me to complete whatever thought I'm in the middle of at the time. I also like that I can quickly snooze the notification but it's persistent enough that I can't really keep ignoring it. The only thing I'd like to see is some sort of AppleScript or other trigger mechanism -- I use this as part of a Pomodoro time management system, and it would be nice if I could have it trigger events in other apps when I hit or complete a break.
