Update newsfeed more frequently
By koygffwwvv (Pcmac user)
The app runs smooth, all features function properly. The issue is that the newsfeed is not updated as frequently as the competition, and stories are not updated in a timely manner or even at all in some cases.

No sound.
By ReighReigh (Pcmac user)
The videos don’t have sound, no volume control, so it makes the videos worthless. Layout and performance is solid otherwise, articles are easy to navigate and read, but without sound it makes a good app useless.

Previous version was so much better, but recently improved
By Just another college prof (Pcmac user)
Really wish I had the old version back. The new version doesn't seem to have as many stories. The organization of stories isn't as good; for example, no "technology" category. Harder to navigate from category to category. Lists of stories have big icons next to them, so not as many display. Lists have only the headline, and no body text, so it's harder to tell whether I want to read a story or not. Can only be read on my iPad in landscape mode. I'll say it again -- I really wish I had the old version back.
Edit and update: This just keeps getting worse. For a few weeks, the app couldn't justify text properly and all the stories ran off the page. That's fixed now, but the new "feature" is that swiping to a news story sometimes automatically opens Safari with photos or whatever. If I wanted to see news in Safari, I would be there, but I don't, so please quit doing that. It just means that I have to click to close the tab, then double click the button to get to my open apps, then get back to the news app. It makes it very difficult to read the news while I'm shaving.
Update 01/13/2017
Since my previous update, the app had gone back to its ridiculous formatting which ran stories off the right-hand side of the screen on my iPad, making the app more of a puzzle than a news source. So it was with some excitement that I just updated it to the latest and greatest version. The good new is that no text runs off the edge of the screen! The bad news is that this is because there is no text, just the photo and headline. C'mon, KBOI, have some self-respect. You used to have the best news app in the Treasure Valley, but your app has been useless now going on a couple years. The reason I'm so frustrated with this app is that I still remember what once was, and I'm embarrassed that you can't find a competent software company that tests your app before it is released. Still just one star, not worth the bandwidth to update.
Update 01/16/17
Today's hotfix was great, and I don't mean that in a sarcastic way. The text now flows nicely down the screen, so everything is readable. Still to fix is the download for the political news, which has its most recent item dated January 3. It seems unlikely that KBOI would be unaware of several newsworthy events that have occurred since that time, so I suspect something is wrong with the push. Still, much, much improved and I am increasing my rating from one star to three in anticipation of further improvements on what was once the Treasure Valley's best news app.
