Software Features and Description

1. OMGuitar comes from the makers of Touch DJ! It is a synth with unique interface and new-generation sound hybrid engine that allows anyone to produce realistic synth guitar sounds.

2. The quality of the guitar synth sound is so high that it can easily be used in studio work as a quick method to produce realistic rhythm and arpeggio guitar tracks.

3. True guitar simulation on the touch-screen device is now possible thanks to the advanced artificial intelligence algorithm that analyzes your style of playing and alters the sound accordingly.

4. The player is supposed to strum the guitar with one finger and place the second finger on the guitar at any time for muting all the strings (this option can be turned off in the settingsmenu).

5. Some of the world's best and most expensive guitar models have been sampled with great precision and act as the source for the synthesis engine.

6. OMGuitar has 10 built-in effects with over 50 presets: 2 types of Distortion, Reverb, Delay, Chorus, Flanger, Phaser, Wah-wah, Vowel filter, Compressor, Tremolo.

7. It responds to the speed of your guitar strumming, catching the emotion of your melody.

8. There are 6 guitar types to choose from (more in updates), both electric and classic.

9. With such approach, many common guitar playing techniques can be easily accomplished.

10. OMGuitar now supports external fretboard running in iPhone via the free Amidio Remote app (just like the Futulele).

11. There is a dedicated string-picking/arpeggio interface, represented as a column of 6 buttons, which can easily be played together with the string strumming interface.

  • Back from the dead.

    By SmiteMatter (Pcmac user)

the app came out with high expectations, and for me much excitement. Then dead silence for a long time. That left me feeling angry for having paid the launch price based on Amidio setting expectations for new content, and improvements "soon". Those just didn't come, until now. Better late than never. This is a uniquely designed guitar simulation, with a pretty cool interface and sound. Nothing replaces the real thing, but this comes pretty close and is at least a competent substitute for situations where a real guitar isn't an option. I can't explain it but my first 2 WiFi downloads came with what I thought were app bugs. Not so. I deleted and then re downloaded while connected to my computer with iTunes and everything was fine. Sounds and plays great! With Audiobus support added, the app becomes even more usable than ever. Just the kind of update to make me happy and forgive the long wait. Worth all of the $5.
  • This is an awsome app- best guitar on the ipad!

    By pastime106 (Pcmac user)

Between the iphone and the ipad I have at least 10 guitar apps. Not the light, but the full versions. I have been looking for something that would allow me to take a few of musical ideas and work out the chord progressions while I am on the road or at lunch while at work. This IS that app. It is a guitar program that sounds like an actual guitar. I love the interface and the ability to play any of the chords on the fly. Most programs make you select a half dozen chords and the finger picking or strumming is not nearly as good as it is here on the the app. I collect guitars and have been playing for over 25 years, this will never replace any of my real guitars but it sure does an incredible job of helping me write music. As far as the price is concerned I think that it is a steal I would have paid double for this app. Keep up the good work!
  • Smart! Oh so close to nailing it!

    By kk100 (Pcmac user)

It's a terrific app and the sounds are very good. Indeed all the elements are there to make it an astounding app I just think they're sacrificing a lot of potential because of the emphasis on ergonomics. It's a great guitar engine in it's own right and I wish the developers would have recognized that ultimately, that's the important part. The effects are excellent although I wish there were more actual guitar types to work with. Forget the ergonomics and just make it sound good - we'll figure out the best way to play it. Five Stars because I hope you stick with it!
  • Not Ready for Prime Time

    By Cresence9805 (Pcmac user)

This is a rudimentary guitar synthesizer that functions more like an autoharp (something like the Qchord in some respects). It still needs significant work to become a serious and usable instrument. For instance, the app as it stands cannot easily handle different guitar tunings, fretting patterns, picking patterns, and any combination of these to produce riffs and arpeggios as well as melodic lines. It is largely suited for strumming at this point. In addition, the app allows little flexibility in configuring the controls, strings, and text to allow the user to set up diifferent playing positions, and I personally found its ergonomics awkward to work with. Users need an option to turn the gyroscope off to fix configurations--right now, even slight shifts in position may cause the controls to flip unexpectedly. The app is a good beginning and shows promise. In some respectsa, I found it to be a better instrument than GarageBand for guitar work. However, Amidio needs to begin building on user experiences to introduce upgrades.
