★ ★ ★ Cooking Overview

What is Cooking? KnowledgeBook: Cooking is a cooking app that does not provide recipes but instead contains all the little bits of information and rules of thumb that you need to really use and understand your recipes. It compiles all this information in one place and adds much more, making it a one-stop reference for all the "extra" information needed to help you understand your recipes and get to cooking.

Software Features and Description

1. Instead, KnowledgeBook: Cooking contains all the little bits of information and rules of thumb that you need to really use and understand your recipes -- what can be substituted for buttermilk or baking soda in a pinch, how many bananas it takes to make 1 cup of slices, how many cups are in a pint, what temperature an oven should be set to if the recipe calls for a "moderately hot" oven, etc.

2. "Awesome app! The best cooking reference app I've ever used all wrapped up in a beautiful FREE bow! It's actually better than most of the paid cooking reference apps and those don't offer HALF the info this one does.

3. It's great to know how much of a fairly expensive item I will need to make a recipe.

4. A cooking app with absolutely no recipes.

5. "This app is a must have for any one who calls his or herself a culinarian whether a novice or a professional.

6. "As a caterer, I have found this app to be very valuable...I love the yields for produce.

7. ("Phoenix 1972", KnowledgeBook:Cooking version 1.10, Feb.

8. "It's almost become indispensable.

9. "I have installed a similar app but this one is much better.

10. I've used every feature.

Top Pcmac Reviews

  • Very useful

    By VenaD (Pcmac user)

The substitution section has saved me many times. I live 30 min. from any grocery store so I can't just run and get a missing item for a recipe!
  • Very Informative app that needs update to 64-bit

    By appleproha (Pcmac user)

This apps is really useful. I just wish Apple or the developers would update it to 64-bit for it to be compatible with iOS 11.
  • Substitutions

    By J-smoothies (Pcmac user)

Very helpful! I use the substitutions quite often and they always work out well. I only wish that there were more things listed for substitutions! :)
  • Wholly Underrated App

    By JuliasChild (Pcmac user)

I honestly don't remember how I found this app or why I would've downloaded it in the first place, but it has become my favorite this app resource, hands down. Most frequently I use the Yield and Substitution sections. It's convenient to have an offline app for reference at the grocery store or to quickly find a substitute to avoid a kitchen disaster. The interface could certainly use an update, as the feel is old and awkward, but I do appreciate the straightforwardness of the menu. To my memory, I've never seen one ad or been asked to rate the app in a popup. I was going to give it 4 stars but decided on 5 because of how underrated I think this app is. Thank you! I really appreciate this app.
