5. If you are familiar with the Fighting Fantasy, Lone Wolf or Grail Quest series then Gamebook Adventures will really appeal to you.

6. •An adapted story by Kieran Coghlan with illustrations by Kyle Ferrin and cover by Dan Maxwell that takes you on an epic quest of fantasy adventure.

  • Another amazing gamebook adventure!

    By Juuicetin (Pcmac user)

Took advantage of the sale and this was the only one from the series I was missing. I love the quality of the the app Adventures series and have been a fan since the first one. Great job Tin Man Games! I just finished playing this the app adventure and I must say that it is one of the most enjoyable in the series. The story had a few good twists and a nice change of scenery as opposed to the blander dungeon crawling ones. I would say if you had to choose only one of the the app adventures, then this would be the one to choose! =]
  • Frustrating

    By TheGamerBabe (Pcmac user)

I loved the choose your own adventure books growing up so I took a chance on this while it's on sale for $.99. I have spent a few hours with it, and while the writing is well done (though a bit repetitious, how many corridors and wooden doors can you go through before you get bored?) I find the ending to be horribly frustrating. Even with pretty good stats, gear and full health it is impossible to get through the last fights at the end of the game. It's all luck and the NPC rolls always seem to beat mine even though given my stats I should have the advantage easily. Nonetheless, I keep reloading and retrying over and over and over, which I've been doing for the last hour, just hoping for a bit of luck on the rolls. I have now given up as the computer is clearly cheating on the rolls. Not fun at all to just reload from a bookmark and flip through pages I've already read to spam the dice and be defeated over and over again. Can't recommend until the dice rolls are more fair.
  • Good but too short

By Dude named Ben (Pcmac user)

My first adventure book purchase. Bought it while on sale and am glad I did. lots of ambiance and well written. Only complaint is that it seemed very shot. You see a lot of "turn to page 486" and what not, giving you the impression there are hundreds of pages and perhaps many hours of enjoyment. This is not the case. I was through it in a 2 hour sitting. I had hoped for more. Will I buy the others in the series? Likely yes but I will be waiting for them to be on sale at 0.99 cents. $4.99 just seems too high for such a short book. If it were a long rambling adventure I would feel differently. I am comparing this to games that have kept both myself and the kids busy for weeks on end for the same outlay.
  • Slow start, picks up. Worth the buck.

    By deemaunik (Pcmac user)

Early in the story, there's at least three or four ways you're either denied a way to save yourself entirely through radon actions that in no way seem atrociously dangerous, or put there with such weak dice pools you're guaranteed death through slow needling. Once you get past that point it picks up nicely and is actually quite interesting and original. But I do agree that at some point you start to stare blankly at the screen when half of your pool of six is ones, and literally all of their pool of four is above five. This happens the sweeping majority of the time, but through bludgeoning the encounters with bookmark hammering, you can trudge through it.
