  • Something to consider for the price.

After finishing the current part of zombie exodus, I was looking for another text game to immerse myself. This game doesn't have the same level of immersion. There are a lot of passive writing and so far I haven't ran into a companion. It tries to be engaging by using d&d rolls for attacking creatures, but its still not all that interesting. What was really memorable to me from other game either from other companies that does text games are the illuminating 1st person stories and descriptions that make you feel like you're there. the story kind of just lacks charisma on some level. Everything is matter of fact and people seem really one dimensional. I guess since this is the first story book produced it might have gotten better over time. All I know was I skimmed most of it and couldn't even focus on the story in great detail because the writing was really passive, and described a lot if stuff that i can care less about? it tries very hard to Spend most of the pages describing the environment, but that in itself seems like a chore to read. It's still worth it to try it out.
  • Not very good.

Pass on this. This series is not anywhere near the best, though the publisher does have better offerings that are not tied to this series.
  • So so story......so so gameplay...

But enjoyable experience enough to make u want to finish but honestly nothin special. Story couldve left you more satisfied. Well made though. Next time more length more bookmarks and better story. I kept hoping the story would get deep the biggest twist I predicted before it happened. Good first try though. Would be amazing with the right story, length, and a little more changes to gameplay. 5 dollars kinda high but only for the fact that the story was fairly basic. But it can definitely be worth if it's your type of game. My first gamebook had high hopes I liked the journey but left me wanting. worth more if you keep playing to see different paths but I have so many good games the story doesn't drive me in enough nor does the gameplay. More rpg elements would be nice. Would buy another in heartbeat though if had a better story or atleast deeper gameplay would even pay more. Needs more choices gameplay wise would be really cool to be able to switch classes the way you could really play the game different. Each class with its on move list. Making some fights hard to one class and moderate to another. Everyone has to admit the gameplay can easily be expanded but still stay simple. Sadly also makes me wonder what type of books or story in games ppl have experienced if this story is great. Honestly it's written well but It never really goes anywhere special it just feels like it will.
  • Great game VERY well put together

I was skeptical at first with this app. Being a long time fan of gamebooks I wasn't sure how this game would compare to some of the already known names in the genre like Fighting Fantasy. I had never heard of Tin Man and I was tempted to judge this game by it's cover (not a fan of the icon, it's ugly). However, I didn't and I'm very happy I gave this app a shot. This game blew me away, it really went above and beyond what I was expecting. The two fighting fantasy apps on the iPhone, while good, can't compete with this gamebook. The writing was great and so were all the menus and the art and interface. I understand Tin Man is working on a second book taking place in the same world, I really am looking forward to it I find myself checking the app store every few days for it. The price - simply put: worth it. I wasn't sure if the price would be a bit high seeing as both the FF apps were cheaper but after seeing all the work this game must have been to make, easily justifies the price. This is a completely new and original story (not to mention combat system as well) where as both the FF apps are just old classics redone on the iPhone with all the same text and artwork. Honestly I'd be willing to pay more for the second app just to insure the gamebooks keep coming from Tin Man. If you like gamebooks or even if they are completely new to you give this game a try you won't regret it!
