Battle Map 2 for Pc

Ok I am pretty unimpressed with this app now. I had high hopes in a newer version, and none of the things, that were wrong with the first one, never got fixed in the second. The only new thing about this version is you can buy way overpriced tokens, and very few I might add like 10 tokens for 2 dollars, and a online connection. I have not tested the online play yet, but I would have been happy if the problems in the last one were fixed. The one thing that they did right was being able to export you maps and not force you to keep the tokens in custom area. Problem 1: Custom imports Yeah you can import custom tokens but it is very unorganized. You can not tag your custom tokens. Problem 2: No tile import function. Problem 3: LOS is still terrible. I can see through doors at the right angle. I made a suggestion to "allow triggers to rooms that when triggered (like players move across a certain tile) allow a predefined line of site of the room. That would fix a lot of problems" Problem 4: Paying an arm and a leg for tiles and symbols. $2.00 for 10 TOKENS? I could possibly see myself paying $2.00 for like 50. I have said this all of problems 1-3 before in the last review but since nothing was done to correct this problem I am giving a lower rating. This app has great potential. Don't ruin it by missing key things that need to be fixed.

Coming from a background as a DM playing AD&D, and using Dundjinni, I thought to upgrade and try this. I purchased it to help create a better environment for my gamers, hoping to create a richer environment for them. What I have found is that this is fine for square dungeons and buildings. However, If I am going to use it explore extensive cave networks or even a ship, which my party is doing right now, it lacks the tools necessary to help draw it out. The purpose of a digital map is detail. Without high detail, I don’t see the value in this. I really would prefer a selection of pens to create depth. Not a lot, but just a few. Even a fill option would be nice.

This does exactly what I want it to do. I would like to be able to add my own background image to paint. Aside from that, there is a minor crash on switching screens. One major issue, there really doesn’t seem to be support on fixes in about 4 years… which means this app may have a short lived cycle. Hope the devs are at least keeping up with iOS updates.

There is a strange lack of snapping grid drawing tools in the App Store, and while this one is pricey, it was worth it for me. I will say it needs some tuning as it chugged down over half my iPad Pro battery in a single evening of 3.5 hours of play, so must have something scanning for input. A wider brush option would be good too. Still, this tool was almost exactly what I needed to be able to get off of the grid paper notebooks.
