What is SMS client?

The app allows users to type SMS messages on their Mac computer and send them via their iPhone. The iPhone client application requires the Mac version of SMS sender, which can be downloaded from the App Store. Both devices must be on the same network. The app has features such as auto-connecting to the iPhone SMS client, reading recipients directly from Apple Contacts, sending messages to an individual recipient or group, importing a group from a CSV file, creating message templates, history of sending, and a recent recipients list. However, sending the SMS message must be confirmed on the iPhone due to security reasons.

Software Features and Description

1. Sending the SMS message must be confirmed on the iPhone due to security reasons - this confirmation is a feature of the Apple developing environment, in which the "SMS client" application is written.

2. SMS sender and SMS client use a standard Apple Bonjour service for discovering devices on the network, applications use an arbitrary port number between 49152 and 65535 (as any other third-party application).

3. If SMS sender is not able to find your iPhone on the network, it seems that ports 49152-65535 are blocked in your computer or in the router.

4. This iPhone client application requires Mac version of SMS sender, which can be downloaded from the App Store.

5. Your iPhone and the Mac computer must be on the same network.

6. Then, restart the router, the computer and relaunch the application on your iPhone.

7. Type SMS messages on your Mac computer and send them via your iPhone.

8. Both your Mac and your iPhone must be on the same Wi-Fi network.

9. It is not possible to send a message without such a confirmation.

  • Hoping to get my money back

This app is ridiculous and pointless. You hope to have a slick way of easily typing texts on your desktop and sending via your phone, meanwhile being able to see a nice text history (like a chat client should), but you get none of this and can't see messages on your phone either. This actually makes it MORE difficult to text than just doing it on your phone. If I had four hands, I'd give it four thumbs down. Get Google Voice, forward your carrier calls to its voicemail, get VoiceMac, then enjoy the app from your mac (with history sync'd in the cloud) and Visual Voicemail on steroids! BTW, other reviewers, you can get your money back. Google is your friend :)
  • Works just as I expected

    By Gordito1973 (Pcmac user)

This app gets a lot of bad reviews, but I was just looking for something that will allow me to type my the app messages with my MacBook Air or iMac. That is exactly what it does. Once I downloaded it, the set up was confusing at first but once I opened the preferences, set the "Show note after sending" ON, "Enable Wi-Fi at launch" ON and "Auto Connect" ON all went well. I downloaded the app for the iMac from the Apple App Store and all works as advertised. I only have two issue: 1) Developer has to do a better job describing how to set it all up 2) $1.99 is a bit more than I expected to pay, but still affordable
  • garbage do not buy

    By iAM.J0J0 (Pcmac user)

I finally bought this app after eyeballing it for a week and I must say that I wish I could get my money back. It works when you force it to(barely). It won't display incoming texts on my mac. It won't stay connected. It doesn't even have a nice look to it. Having to hit send from my iPhone itself defeats the purpose of even using it. Stay away from this one apple fans. Spend your $2 on something that works. This is embarrassing apple I can't believe you would do this to a loyal customer.
  • Works.

    By stcrosland (Pcmac user)

The reviews that say don't buy it, doesn't work are just silly. It works. The ability to type a message on your full size computer keyboard instead of the silly iPhone screen is time saving and convenient, setup is easy and having to push send once your message is on the phone isn't a problem. Of course there are always enhancements that can make an application more useful. The ability to see incoming messages on your computer screen is certainly one of them.
