What is Find My iPhone?

Find My iPhone is a free app that helps you locate your lost or misplaced iPhone, iPad, iPod touch, or Mac. It allows you to remotely lock your device, play a sound, display a message, or erase all the data on it. The app also includes Lost Mode, which can display a custom message and contact phone number on the Lock Screen and keep track of your device's recent location history.

Software Features and Description

1. When you use Find My iPhone, your device’s location, as well as information about your device and your account will be sent to and retained by Apple so Apple can provide you with the service.

2. While in Lost Mode, your device can keep track of where it has been and report back so you can view its recent location history, right from the Find My iPhone app.

3. Find My iPhone will help you locate your missing device on a map, remotely lock it, play a sound, display a message, or erase all the data on it.

4. Please note that Find My iPhone must be enabled in iCloud settings on your device before you can locate it with this app.

5. If you misplace your iPhone, iPad, iPod touch, or Mac, the Find My iPhone app will let you use any iOS device to find it and protect your data.

6. Your device’s location is only sent to Apple if you actively request the location of a device or accessory.

7. If you choose to enable the Send Last Location feature, your device’s last known location will be automatically sent to Apple any time your device’s battery reaches a critically low level.

8. For missing iOS devices, Find My iPhone also includes Lost Mode.

9. You can create a free Apple ID to use with iCloud on your iPhone, iPad, iPod touch or Mac.

10. Lost Mode locks your device with a passcode and can display a custom message and contact phone number right on the Lock Screen.

A Must-Have App!

My sister tends to lose her phone every once-in-a-while. When we were taking an evening stroll with our friends, we got to our friends house, and about an hour later, she feels her pocket for her phone, and her eyes widen. I have seen this happen many-a-time, so I simply get out my phone and use this app. With our trusty adult chaperone, we set off, retracing our steps, trying to the app the missing phone in the pitch black. I was convinced, because we were in a not-so-nice part of town, that it was done for, bye-bye iPhone. But, we used the app, and found that it was right where we were walking. I still panicked, because sometimes this app can say your phone is in one place, then 10 seconds later say it's 18 miles away. We used the "sound" feature and could hear it from half a block away. We found it unharmed. A few months later, my mother lost her old iPod on a road trip. I used this app, and it said "locating"... But it just kept saying that. My best guess to why this is is that it was very old, too old to track. This iPod was not touch screen and only played music. I've also heard complaints that this app doesn't work when the device is turned off, which I think sounds SO frustrating. Please fix this, otherwise, this app is a lifesaver!

So my friends and I were skating around my school and decided to play football. My sister was with the me so I told her to hold my iPhone 6. Then a group of four teenagers passed by. They were wearing hoods. At first they just passed by looking really shady. They went around the corner of the block whispering. Five minutes later they came back and talked to us. They tried being nice and asked if we wanted their baseball bat. I said sure because I never had one. Then they asked us to play football. After the first three throws, they told us to go down the street really far from them. Then all of a sudden, the group snatched my phone right from my sister's hand and ran away. We called the police and my parents. When we told the police everything they tried searching the street they ran to. Then all of a sudden I remembered the this app app. So we tracked it at and looked around that area it was at. The group knew we called the police before so they dropped it on the ground. Plus, I had a password. So we tracked it and found it on a pile of leaves. Thanks Apple for making this app.
Who comes up with terrible changes?

Why have you CHANGED this app to log in every time? To many of your Apple changes occur because someone who has job has nothing better to do to justify their job except things that already work great and the people have not requested to be changed. When I buy a bicycle, the seller has NO RIGHT TO COME TO MY HOUSE AND CHANGE MY DA*N SEAT OR ANY PART OF MY BIKE. I bought my product because of how the app My Phone worked and you feel you have the right to change what I bought without allowing me to use the versions I paid for. Apple is infuriating. Your upgrades are geared at rendering older devices and Software that worked just the app so painfully slow or inoperable, that you force us to buy up. You think we’re stupid? You people think you can just do what ever you want and it makes me hate your company since Jobs departed. Do you think I’m buying the new iPhone6 because you’ve rendered my 4S slow and changed your apps without my da*n permission, you’re high. You wrecked the first version of iMovie to force people to buy Final Cut and many other things to force people to buy up again- to rebuy a product we already bought. Software that we buy is ours and somehow, you have the legal right to come to MY phone and change MY purchased product. Disgusting.

I lost my iPhone on New Years Eve at a friends party. Thanks to the this app app I located my phone today 1/6/15 at some strangers house. I knocked on their door and when they opened it I hit the play sound icon and heard it ringing in their house. The woman let me in but didn't want to let me leave with MY phone lol.. She said if the guy who's room it was in (who wasn't home) paid for it on the street someone owes him money!!! lol I was like is she for real???? But then again she was renting rooms illegally so yeah she would be worried about street money. I told her I bought my phone with my legitimate, hard earned legal money and I'm taking MY phone! She's lucky I didn't call the INS...anyhow I did call the local police before going but they didn't think I needed an escort but they did arrive when the woman didn't want me to take my phone but she talked to the guy who's room it was in via telephone and when he heard the cops were there he said he found it. The end result was I got my iPhone. Thank you Apple 😊 Like Comment Share
