What is Newsday? The Newsday app is a Long Island local news app that provides 24/7 coverage. It offers customizable alerts, access to Newsday's digital crossword puzzles, an interactive version of the Newsday print edition, offline reading, a section swipe and customized navigation, and an interactive weather map. The app also allows users to manage their newsletters and account information, including subscriptions.

Software Features and Description

1. Watch our award-winning videos and documentaries from the app on your flat screen from Feed Me TV to breaking news with our redesigned video player, complete with playlist functionality and casting capability.

2. Personalize your experience and enable notifications you want to receive, choosing from breaking news, weather, traffic, sports, business, opinion and more.

3. You can schedule a vacation hold on your print subscription, resolve a delivery issue, view and pay your bill, enroll in eBilling or EZ-Pay, update your billing address and more.

4. • Any unused portion of a free trial period, if offered, will be forfeited when the user purchases a subscription to that publication, where applicable.

5. Subscribe to all of Newsday’s newsletters delivered to your inbox, from breaking news, the morning update, afternoon update and more in the app.

This is an update to my old review. The App is still truly embarrassing for a newspaper that once was really well written. Typos and stories with wrong facts abound. Stories are left up for days so who knows what’s really “news.” The comments section has yet to comeback — obviously management knows what a leftist rag it is and are scared of being called out. It doesn’t crash regularly like the this app app of old, but the paper and app aren’t worth paying for, iMHO. Another update - another half -assed excuse for an app. Now the comments section locks up if you try and reply. Plus, the app runs the same inane story for days, like valedictorians of high schools. OMG. Crash after crash, freeze after freeze. this app App is horrible and has been for a while. Don't bother.

The app is very unstable, at least on iPhone 7. It frequently crashes and the crossword puzzle is almost impossible to do because you can’t see the box you’re typing into on the grid. It was glitchy before but their “upgrade” made it even worse. C’mon guys get it right!

Clicking on the story in “Today’s Paper” brings you to the story in the app. This is an annoying feature. If I wanted to read it in the app, I would do so. Also, when downloading the paper to my iPad, it doesn’t save and I have to re download it if I close it.

Buy this app every day when home. Don't get home delivery for security reasons. Could always check up on news when traveling. Now not possible. Understand newspapers' need for revenue from content but seems some condensed version could be free to all. That is what the New York Times does. The problem is the ownership. They have always tried to use power to get what they want. E.g. They won't let the channels that carry Islander games be available in HD if you are a Fios subscriber. Old man Dolan was greedy and smart. The son is just greedy. Enough said. Would now rate it OK. I now can get it on line since I am an Optimum customer. Biggest issue now is that it tends to crash a lot.
