1. The power of Rockhound is in this section where you have complete control of the descriptions and pictures of any Site that you mark as a Favorite.

2. Features a large database of over 160 sites and over 60 rocks and gems with full screen pictures.

3. This is not meant to be a complete list of all rocks and gems, but more of a starting point for you to add the ones that you find and personalized descriptions and photos of them.

4. SITES - With over 160 sites, you can choose a site with the Map that also shows your location, or with the List which is separated by State.

5. The Favorite Sites can have pictures attached to them that you import from your Photo Library or take with the Camera.

6. ROCKS - Over 60 different rocks, minerals and gems with descriptions and pictures of each.

7. FAVORITES - You have the option to select sites as Favorite Sites.

8. The power is in being able to add your own sites anywhere in the world.

9. Add your own sites to personalize the App or include your own finds.

10. RockHound was not intended to be a complete guide to every site, they are mostly in the US.

11. You can even add your own sites by plotting the GPS coordinates on the map.

Download and install the RockHound app on your Windows 10,8,7 or Mac in 4 simple steps below:

Download an Android emulator for PC and Mac:

Install the emulator on your PC or Mac:
On your computer, goto the Downloads folder » click to install Bluestacks.exe or Nox.exe » Accept the License Agreements » Follow the on-screen prompts to complete installation.

Using RockHound on PC [Windows 7/ 8/8.1/ 10/ 11]:

Open the Emulator app you installed » goto its search bar and search "RockHound"
The search will reveal the RockHound app icon. Open, then click "Install".
Once RockHound is downloaded inside the emulator, locate/click the "All apps" icon to access a page containing all your installed applications including RockHound.
Now enjoy RockHound on PC.

Install RockHound on your Mac using the same steps for Windows OS above.

How to download and use RockHound App on Windows 11

To get RockHound on Windows 11, check if there's a native RockHound Windows app here » ». If none, follow the steps below:

Download the Amazon-Appstore » (U.S only)
- Click on "Get" to begin installation. It also automatically installs Windows Subsystem for Android.
- After installation, Goto Windows Start Menu or Apps list » Open the Amazon Appstore » Login (with Amazon account)

For non-U.S users, Download the OpenPC software »
- Upon installation, open OpenPC app » goto Playstore on PC » click Configure_Download. This will auto-download Google Play Store on your Windows 11.

Installing RockHound:
- Login to your computer's PlayStore or Amazon AppStore.
- Search for "RockHound" » Click "Install" to install RockHound
- RockHound will now be available on your windows start-menu.

Useless app

Absolutely useless. No info other than directions. No space for others input, and the info available is decades old. There haven't been agates at Agate beach for 20 years. Save your time and money, I wish I had.
Missing critical info and ability

Since this app is been around for so long, I thought there would be a lot more sites. It also does not take advantage of GPS to be able to add in your current location as a potential site. Could be a fantastic app, if they took the time to actually add in an offsite to make the purchase worth it. You can't search by what you want to find, so there is no way to really make use of the sites that are there.
Poor excuse for an app

This app lacks all the things others have said about it but I want to add different problems. When looking at individual minerals, the list of minerals blocks the description, at least 4 lines of info. They want others to add to their meager work and they want to release updates, profiting from our efforts. I guess they had better have people cite their sources as there is such a thing called plagiarism....I think I will learn how to make apps to get something of value.
Very Good app

I initially purchased Rocks & Gems for for my son's iPod Touch, and he liked it so much that I also got this app. I - naturally - failed to read the requirements section, which of course notes that it is only for iPone. No worries though, I will just keep this one for me on my iPone. Overall, this is a very good app for anyone interested in rock, gem or mineral collection - so please ignore my earlier review.
