What is JAPAN MAP by itsumo NAVI?

This is a map service app designed for those who visit Japan or are interested in Japan. It provides a map of entire Japan and facility information in 5 languages, including English, Traditional Chinese, Simplified Chinese, Korean (Hangeul character), and Japanese. The app runs on Apple Watch and allows users to search for convenience stores or cafes nearby. It displays the distance and direction to the destination and allows users to tap the map to record their current location.

Software Features and Description

1. This map uses the 1/500000 and 1/25000 topographical map provided by Geospatial Information Authority of Japan (GSI) of Ministry of Land, Infrastructure, Transport and Tourism (MLIT) with its approval.

2. *Current location measurement is available only inside Japan.

3. It displays the map of entire Japan written in both Japanese and a multi-language.

4. JAPAN MAP is a multi-lingual map application which runs on iPhone or iPad.

5. *There may be a margin of error between the measured current location and your actual location.

6. This is a map service for those who visit Japan or are interested in Japan.

7. ･ Your current location is on push notification to tap the map.

8. *To use this application, internet connection such as 3G, Wi-Fi or other networks will be required.

9. *Street address and facilities category searches are available only in English.

Nice map, but slow

Good: the map display is nice; having a complete Romaji option is nice. (Compare Google Maps, which shows a lot of Kanji, even when you are supposedly reading in English mode.) Bad: SLOOOOW! Long delay to load whenever you zoom in or out, or move the map. (Are the servers in the app? Would it be faster if I were using it from the app instead of the US? I guess I'll find out next month.) No legend — you have to guess what some of the symbols mean. No search by name means search is almost useless — you have to know the prefecture / district of a location to find it!

This app helps me in exactly the way I want: learning the location and names of Japanese prefectures and cities. It even has a Japanese language version to help me recognize the kanji. It would be amazing if it didn't have to load when you zoom in or out (even though it's quick). I don't know about how helpful this would be actually getting around in the app, but I like this app. You should definitely get it to learn the names of prefectures.

As a native English speaker, the Kanji-only Google map app that comes with the iPhone is a constant source of frustration. this app provides detailed maps, reasonable load times, and - best of all - Romaji names for cities, railway stations, streets, and important buildings. While some reviwers have complained about slow load times, I find them comparable to the standard Google map app. Why only 4 stars? It does have some issues with location lock in more rural areas, and the address search can be a bit tough to navigate through when looking for smaller, incorporated, municipalities. Worth $9? Probably not... But, in my opinion, - for anyone who spends any amount of time in the app - it's worth every penny of the $5 sale price.
Using it to navigate is frustrating.

I was drinking the other night in Nagoya. Book marked my hotel in the event I was to get lost. I did get lost. I used my current location feature with frequent updates to navigate myself back. I could locate my current point and where I wanted to go although without any direction indicators on the program deciding which direction to move in became a major challenge. I made it back. But it wasn't easy.
