Download and install LinkedIn on your Laptop or Desktop computer

3.5 Rating: 3.5 - 100,450 votes

If you want to install and use the LinkedIn app on your PC or Mac, you will need to download and install a Desktop App emulator for your computer. We have worked diligently to help you understand how to use LinkedIn for your computer in 4 simple steps below:

Step 1: Download an Android emulator for PC and Mac

Ok. First things first. If you want to use the application on your computer, first visit the Mac store or Windows AppStore and search for either the Bluestacks app or the Nox App . Most of the tutorials on the web recommends the Bluestacks app and I might be tempted to recommend it too, because you are more likely to easily find solutions online if you have trouble using the Bluestacks application on your computer. You can download the Bluestacks Pc or Mac software here

Step 2: Install the emulator on your PC or Mac

Now that you have downloaded the emulator of your choice, go to the Downloads folder on your computer to locate the emulator or Bluestacks application.
Once you have found it, click it to install the application or exe on your PC or Mac computer.
Now click Next to accept the license agreement.
Follow the on screen directives in order to install the application properly.
If you do the above correctly, the Emulator app will be successfully installed.

Step 3: LinkedIn for PC - Windows 7/8 / 8.1 / 10

Now, open the Emulator application you have installed and look for its search bar. Once you found it, type LinkedIn in the search bar and press Search. Click on LinkedIn application icon. A window of LinkedIn on the Play Store or the app store will open and it will display the Store in your emulator application. Now, press the Install button and like on an iPhone or Android device, your application will start downloading. Now we are all done.
You will see an icon called "All Apps".
Click on it and it will take you to a page containing all your installed applications.
You should see the LinkedIn icon. Click on it and start using the application.

Step 4: LinkedIn for Mac OS

Hi. Mac user!
The steps to use LinkedIn for Mac are exactly like the ones for Windows OS above. All you need to do is install the Nox Application Emulator or Bluestack on your Macintosh. The links are provided in step one

Download Andriod, Iphone

  • More options needed

It is a good platform more functionality is needed in options for blocking, sorting, how things appear, who can see things and who can't, don't allow anyone to see, search or know my phone number in any way if I add it, not even my network, like Facebook and other sites have. Don't force people to put all dates and information on positions. After Equifax security is paramount. I'm surprised that by now and being a professional site that there aren't more options of this nature. It does give you the opportunity to see how recruiters, executives, companies and employees think. Having used it for years it's amazing to see how things and views are changing so much and rapidly over time. It would be nice to have a storage/history page. Some sites have them and its interesting to see how things change over a period of time. When searching for positions I wish there were either more options on the free version or the paid version were a little less expensive. Not willing to pay that much to see what little I'm missing. Would like to see more posts from regular people. I have connections with recruiters and see more posts from recruiters than anything yet the majority of my network isn't recruiters. I don't understand. This is another option that would be nice to have added. More control of posts that you see.

For years I've resisted adding this app to my mobile devices choosing to only use their online website. Finally a couple of weeks ago I gave in and it's turned out to be the worst app that I've ever added. Without asking for permission it automatically added every LinkedIn connection to my phone's address book. Now my contacts have exploded as well as people I barely know have their birthdays showing all over my calendar. Thanks a lot LinkedIn for creating a HUGE mess on my calendar and address book. For full disclosure, I DESPISE LinkedIn and only have a profile because it’s basically mandatory in today’s business world. I’ve turned off all notifications and have emails go directly to my junk box. Why? Because LinkedIn does nothing to help the user unfriend someone or unjoin a group. I’ve been flooded with worthless articles and self promotions over the years which has watered down the product, leading the experience to be nothing short of a online version junk mail. Sadly I look at Facebook has having a much better user experience where the user has more control on what they receive, how they interact, and having the ability to unfriend others very easily. I really hope another platform comes along to knockoff LinkedIn.
  • Do not use unless you like spam calls text and emails

The search function is nice BUT, and this is huge if you are in the job market, if you apply through the app you are automatically giving permission to get spam, robocalls and texts. I started to apply for a job and discovered I had no choice but to accept allowing my LinkedIn contact info to be sent. I cancelled the job application as soon as I realized and didn’t complete applying through the site but it was too late. I immediately received 3 emails from job search list services I never heard of, which I then unsubscribed from. The next day the job search texts began(to expired ads no less started) so sent back STOP. And then the robo calls from pushy education telemarketers started. I told them to stop calling but they just hang up, so am blocking numbers. It’s a huge PIA when you are exploring job opportunities to have so many SPAM calls coming, since you have to listen to see if it’s a callback about a job or another robocall. So DO NOT apply to any jobs through the App, and would recommend just searching through normal LinkedIn and applying directly even though it takes a little longer. I am disgusted and aggravated by this experience with a LinkedIn branded service.

July 28, 2018 Update: "Even if (you're) not currently looking for a job... we'll now send you new alerts when a company you follow posts a job that fits your profile." Without asking permission. Without the option to say 'no.' Without even the slightest bit of rational, critical thought for anyone's desire or agenda or privacy but their own. Assume we are all thoughtless lemmings that will willingly and happily submit to whatever some mindless, anti-social media 'guru' stuffs down our throats, insisting that they know far better than we what is good for us. More than likely this is good for their bottom line, and the companies that cannot attract great talent and so must force themselves on us without permission. This, all assuming the obvious: that we are all worker bees, slaving away under one queen or another, having neither ability nor desire to forge our own path as queens. In other words, this obviously biased update makes a critical error by assuming EVERYONE longs to be an indentured servant – Employee – of someone else. Someone else who is clearly not a human being. Which brainless wonder who can't be bothered or concerned with consequences came up with this 'ingenious' assumption!?

Everytime I open the app it doesn’t refresh and when I try to go to my profile it says “No connection” which I don’t understand why. I deleted the app and downloaded again and it kept saying the same thing. Worst app ever.
  • Subscription scam

LinkedIn does the subscription ordering of Premium through AppStore, but the subscriptions don’t show up on Apple subscriptions - at least not in my case - Making it impossible to end it!!!

Ads, up sells and clickbait make it harder to have rewarding connections. I spoke to their mobile team—super disappointing—they want ad interactions and monthly actives. Upload your address book and hurt your business connections. Click “like” and spam to your network you have nothing better to do. Notice inmail emails hide the message? Yup, you got it
  • I can only see like 6 job offers

I put the filters I want based around my location yet I only see 6 job offers even though the results say 23,000. There is no “next page” button or any way to scroll and see more.

When switching to another app, the app doesn’t maintain your place - it should. I lost a message I was typing when I went to retrieve a link from another app. Also, no feedback button within the app, so it goes here
