  • Mostly brilliant

    By plaintiger (Pcmac user)

This app is a stroke of genius on the part of the developers; it provides an indispensable thing that’s missing from every other ASL-learning app I’ve tried: the ability to have one’s signing assessed by the phone. Just brilliant. Two complaints I have so far are that: 1. the assessment of the user’s signs is not always perfect; I’ve had the app accept “signs“ I’ve made while I felt like I was still very much struggling to form the sign correctly (I personally have this problem a lot with ‘K’). And 2. the Concentration-style game at the beginning of the practice phase I find not only useless, but counterproductive. Far from building confidence, its complete randomness just results in my feeling disoriented and like I’m not in control of what’s going on (because I’m not). It’s a random search for random letters and signs, and if I happen to stumble upon a correct pairing, it’s entirely by chance, and the pair disappears before I can even get a good look at the sign. The only good thing about that phase of the practice is the “Skip“ button in the upper right corner. The rest of the practice phase, however, is as brilliant as the rest of the app. It’s only that Concentration-style game that I feel has no constructive value and should be removed. For all the brilliance in the app, I thank the developers most sincerely. 😊👍🏻
  • Will upgrade to 5 stars with a few changes… but overall this app is great!

There should be an option to turn off the hand view to practice signing from English letters. It would be great if you could do a timed test or like scoreboard for English to sign (not just sign to sign). The times saved would be how long it took you to sign x number of words. Overall I think this app has a lot of potential and the way you have developed the camera to recognize signs is incredibly impressive. I’d love if there were more lessons on actual signs in addition to finger spelling. Thanks!
  • Makes me so happy!

I’m hard-of-hearing myself and am fluent in ASL. Wanted to give this app a try to see how well it works, and it does!!! It’s such a great way for beginners to learn fingerspelling and more (in the future). Honestly, the premium is worth it because it’s like paying for a French class that would cost possibly way more online. I have great hopes for this app :) Keep it up!
  • Awesome for begginers

    By delkyyyyyy (Pcmac user)

This app is awesome for beginners! i myself am one and this app has already taught me the letters and the practices help me understand what professionals might be fingerspelling. 1 thing i would reccomend is giving more time for the beginner practices and maybe slow it down a notch. it would be very helpful!
