  • Control Your Home From Your Macc

    By PeterPappas (Pcmac user)

I have been a user of their iOS apps for many years. Having a Macintosh version of the app is a great. If you are looking for an app to control your home's A/V devices this is it. Once you set up all your devices everything works smoothly and reliably.
  • Great upgrade, easy transition from Simple Hub

    By Nav_ET (Pcmac user)

This was an easy transition from Simple Hub. The IOS and Mac version upgrades were seamless. the app Remote for the Mac is now easier to use, and more like the IOS version. Insteon automation and Foscam cameras worked well, and Alexa integration didn't skip a beat. Nice work the app!
  • Works well but you need good DIY skills.

    By Inexplicable2 (Pcmac user)

App: 5 stars Support: 0 stars Overall this is a very good app for the price. You can put together a formidable home control system for a fraction of the price of other major brands. You just need some DIY skill and the patience to read and learn the instruction manual. I was not happy to have to purchase a completely new app AGAIN. However, it does make sense to separate the two. After spending countless hours of trial and error designing a home setup on the old app, I would have been furious to buy the new one and have it damage my existing Simple Control setup in the update. That problem is eliminated with a standalone new app. I was still very concerned after reading some of the other reviews so I stuck with the old app until last week. Out of Covid boredom I bought the new one just to give it a try. I was ecstatic when I ended up have no issues in the transfer. It took my old setup to the new app almost error free. One power button needed a slight tweak, but other than that it works great. I am happy with the new features in the new app and the cloud sync with other remotes in the house. The MacOS app is a nice addition to have house control from the laptop as well. Overall the app is very cool, and this should be the LAST time we have to buy a new one. If they keep doing this to their customers every five years the company won't last long. I came from iRule when it when out of service, and though this is not as flexible, the learning curve is easier, and it does almost everything I need it to do. There are numerous reviews about customer service. To be fair, they documented their change in stance and decided not to offer any support for the product other than software bug issues. That is tough to swallow for a paid app that requires a subscription service. Even if you are a great DIY'er, there are times you still need support. A couple of years ago I traded emails with support and my experience was similar to others here. The person was condescending and rude at best, and this was during a time when they actually gave support. No response at all would be better than those ridiculous interactions. At the end of the day, it is a very good app for controlling my home. Hopefully the nickel and diming with new apps, and the changes in organizational direction are a thing of the past.
  • Not worth it.

    By ingenius (Pcmac user)

I'm annoyed that this app requires a subscription AND you have to pay to download it. Usually, you'd have a free download, a free trial, and then pay for a subscription. This is a new way of pricing that shows how greed has permeated the app store at a new level. Paying for a 'free' sample, what's next?
