What is PMK-EE? The Navy PMW 240 Program has produced an official U.S. Navy mobile application called the Professional Military Knowledge Eligibility Exam (PMK-EE) for Sailors to prepare for and complete the required exam as part of the enlisted advancement process for E4/5/6/7 paygrades. The revised content version of PMK-EE consists of 100 questions spread across five revised sections: Career Information, Leadership and Character, Naval Heritage, Professionalism, Warfighting and Readiness. Sailors must achieve a passing score of 80 percent or higher on each section in order to pass the PMK-EE.

Software Features and Description

1. The Navy's Professional Military Knowledge Eligibility Exam (PMK-EE) mobile application is a convenient way for Sailors to prepare for and complete the required exam as part of the enlisted advancement process for E4/5/6/7 paygrades.

2. Individuals must achieve an overall passing score of 80 percent or higher on the PMK-EE for the next higher paygrade to be eligible to take the Navy-Wide Advancement Examination (NWAE) for that paygrade.

3. Sailors must achieve a passing score of 80 percent or higher on each section in order to pass the PMK-EE.

4. The PMK-EE replaces the requirement for the Professional Military Knowledge (PMK) section on the Navy-Wide Advancement Examination (NWAE).

5. Topics and bibliographies used to develop PMK-EE questions are also available on Navy eLearning and MyNavy Portal within the Advancement & Promotion section.

6. The revised content version of PMK-EE consists of 100 questions spread across five revised sections: Career Information, Leadership and Character, Naval Heritage, Professionalism, Warfighting and Readiness.

7. The app also tracks the total time the Sailor spends completing each section of the exam.

8. Failure to achieve an 80 percent score on a section will require that section to be retaken.

9. PMK-EE is a part of the Sailor 2025 rating modernization effort to improve the Sailor experience.

10. The next time the app is opened, it returns to the bookmarked location, allowing the Sailor to continue with the exam from that point.

11. When a Sailor exits the app before completing a section, the app bookmarks that spot.

Do not waste your time, you will have redo the course

On a postive note, the app is pretty well laid out and user friendly. It’s not glitchy and all the functions seem to work properly. Except one. The most important function of this entire app is to send information of successful completion to update your FLTMPS record. And it does not do that. I am on an iphone, OCONUS, using internet service off my local SIM card. There is no wifi. They failed to mention this creates a problem for the app. I successfully completed the course and am unable to hit the Send button on the auto generated email within the app that sends the completed certificate to their database and up to FLTMPS. I called NTMPS. They walked me through verifying my phone’s settings were all correct. I am the lucky winner of I-get-to-take-PMK-EE-all-over-again. But this time i have to use the gov computer with crap internet and work through the always-have-a-pleasant-experience e-learning website. I am not happy at all about this. It has wasted a lot of my time.
Needs work, but not bad of an app

Instructions should be clearer On how to use this app. For starters they should be said that you need to have ad mail server installed and configured to use this app. The Mail app for iPhones and iPads to avoid getting error and unable to send the results. The PMK app needs a better navigation. I had to redo multiple times.
Great app and simple to use if

This app is amazing! I was able to complete my PMK-EE in less than two hours! All you need is a decent connection, (I was on my 3g) and an email already set up on your cell to send the completion cert. (my default email is gmail) That’s it and FLTMPS was updated 2 days later.
Mail Client

I’ve finish my PMK but I can’t submit due to error sending mail because it doesn’t have mail client. It doesn’t have any instructions how to do that or that you should set one up to begin with. I will change the rating once this is fixed. Also, the first time I’ve completed my PMK I’ve exited the app without any warning that this would delete all my progress so I ended up doing it again. That needs to be fixed and save your completion til you are able to fully submit it.
