What is Redspira? Redspira is a collaborative air quality monitoring project consisting of a network of low-cost monitors for measuring and reporting various types of variables related to air pollution. The project aims to raise awareness among the residents of Mexicali about the impact of air quality on their health and well-being. The project has a web portal and mobile applications that monitor real-time information provided by Redspira sensors, Purple air (a commercial public-use network), and government monitoring stations. The map displays the monitors and their measurements in different areas of Mexicali, expressed visually with a color code related to the measurement. The AQI (Air Quality Index) is an index for daily air quality notification that indicates the degree of purity or atmospheric pollution and the related health effects that may concern you.
1. Redspira es un proyecto de monitoreo colaborativo de la calidad del aire consistente en una red de monitores de bajo costo para la medici贸n y reporte de distintos tipos de variables relacionadas con la contaminaci贸n atmosf茅rica.
2. La EPA (United States Environmental Protection Agency) calcula el AQI para cinco contaminantes atmosf茅ricos principales reglamentados por la Ley del aire puro: ozono a nivel del suelo, contaminaci贸n por part铆culas, mon贸xido de carbono, di贸xido de azufre y di贸xido de nitr贸geno.
3. Para ello, hemos creado un portal web: y aplicaciones m贸viles en las cuales se monitorea en tiempo real la informaci贸n proporcionada por los sensores Redspira (creados por nosotros), Purple air (red comercial de uso p煤blico) y las estaciones de monitoreo del Gobierno.
4. Indica el grado de pureza o contaminaci贸n atmosf茅rica y los efectos para la salud conexos que le podr铆an preocupar.
5. El AQI gira en torno a los efectos en la salud que usted puede sufrir en unas cuantas horas o d铆as tras respirar aire contaminado.
6. En el mapa puedes consultar por las distintas zonas de Mexicali los monitores y sus mediciones, expresados de manera muy visual con un c贸digo de colores relacionado con la medici贸n.
7. Uno de nuestros objetivos es concientizar a los habitantes de Mexicali sobre el impacto que tiene la calidad del a铆re en su salud y bienestar.
8. El AQI es un 铆ndice para la notificaci贸n de la calidad del aire a diario.
