  • Not ready for prime time

Great idea, but so much of the design of this doesn’t feel thought out or tested. Basic things don’t work, like the Save button when editing name and weight. Some edits require a Save, and others you just arrow back. No confirmation messages for saved changes. There’s also no way to create a program if you’re already in a training program. For example, I’m in the middle of marathon training and would like to use this app for the rest of my training. When I plug in my race date I get this weird hodgepodge of workouts; e.g., next week I the app 4 miles on Tuesday and 19 on Saturday. That’s it. I can’t believe any training algorithm or coach would recommend that, even if I were literally starting at the beginning. Maybe I’ll give it another shot after my race, hopefully after more actual development has taken place. Not worth a monthly subscription cost at this point IMO. I do like the Higdon feedback/tips on the workout days.
  • Re-starting running savior

    By rhm61 (Pcmac user)

I re-started running after a series of injuries and basic laziness. I tried doing 5 mile daily runs and 7-10 mile weekend runs but it was a disaster. Slow. Painful. And making no progress. Hal’s App started me out correctly....3 miles seemed short for base runs, but I have gained essential and strategic muscle mass and most of all confidence. I am not trying to over-the app in order to match my previous speeds and distances. The ‘plan’ shows me that several months in the future I will be ‘there’ but this is the time for re-learning or re-gaining those essential elements that will help me return to the running achievements of my recent past.
  • Advanced running program

    By bump13 (Pcmac user)

I see how this could be a launch point for runners. All of the base of intro to running a goal performance are embedded into this program. For me, as an advanced runner 60-70 mpw and running 6/flat in half marathons, this training program didn’t help much. Just gave me the base line of what I should structure my workout as. You report how you feel, what you did, etc. which should be had in any program. But if you continue to kill your program, week after week, adjustments should be made. If you don’t, adjustments should be made. The program makes you think your paces/distances are determined based on your weekly performance. But they’re not. My first workout was 4x400 at goal pace, which for me was nothing. I actually ran them faster with more mpw. With no adjustment. My advice would be that if you’re just starting out as a runner. This is for you 100%. If you’re in the top of your age group or winning races but still it “elite” you shouldn’t use this program. I was looking for guidance. I got a program, just one that wasn’t tailored to my needs.
  • Great Training Programs

    By KLM03OSU (Pcmac user)

I’ve been using this app for a month to help get back into running after a hiatus. As I’ve been getting faster the app has been challenging me as I work towards a race in a few months. I’ve been building my base mileage up in a way that really works for me. I don’t use the running tracker in the app, I use my Apple Watch and manually record it later because the watch has all the features I want. I’d be fine if all this app did was tell me how to the app, I record what I did and it adjusts for me. That’s how I use it today and it’s perfect.
