★ ★ ★ Good News Bible Church (Audio) Overview

What is Good News Bible Church (Audio)? The Good News Bible (GNB) is a translation of the Bible into simple, everyday language, with the intention that everyone can appreciate it. It was born out of requests made by people in Africa and the Far East for a version of the Bible that was friendly to non-native English speakers. The GNB uses a translation theory called Dynamic Equivalence, which means that the meaning of the Hebrew and Greek is expressed in a translation "thought for thought" rather than "word for word". The GNB was first released in 1966 as a paperback, and the Old Testament was completed and published in 1976. In 1992, the translation was revised with inclusive language.

Software Features and Description

1. Besides these requests, the GNB was born out of the translation theories of linguist Eugene Nida, the Executive Secretary of the American united Good News Bible Society's Translations Department.

2. The beginnings of the Good News Bible can be traced to requests made by people in Africa and the Far East for a version of the Bible that was friendly to non-native English speakers.

3. In 1976, the Old Testament was completed and published as the Good News Bible: The Bible in Today's English Version.

4. In 1979, the Apocryphal/Deuterocanonical Books were added to the Good News Bible and published as Good News Bible: Today's English Version with Deuterocanonicals/Apocrypha.

5. The result, titled Good News for Modern Man: The New Testament in Today's English Version, was released in 1966 as a 599-page paperback with a publication date of January 1, 1966.

6. Due to these requests and Nida's theories, Robert Bratcher (who was at that time a staffer at the American Bible catholic Society) did a sample translation of the Gospel of Mark.

7. The American Good News Bible Society, impressed with Nida's theories, decided to use them.

8. The Bible gnt Societies released the Contemporary English Version in 1995, also using jargon-free English.

9. There are introductions to each book of the Good News Bible.

10. The dynamic theory was inspired by a Spanish translation for Latin American native peoples.

11. In the 1960s, Nida envisioned a new style of translation called Dynamic equivalence.

Good News Bible Church (Audio) functions

The GNB is written in simple, everyday language, making it particularly suitable for children and those learning English. It contains introductions to each book of the Bible and line drawings of biblical events in some editions. The line drawings were done by Annie Vallotton in certain editions. The focus of the GNB is on ease of understanding, so poetry is sometimes sacrificed for clarity. The GNB is known for its rendition of John 3:16, which is rendered as "For God loved the world so much that..." instead of the more familiar "For God so loved the world". The GNB is still widely used today, alongside the Contemporary English Version, which was released in 1995.
