My friend Alex and I have heard great things about the app. His friend even met her boyfriend of several years on the app. Looking for love is definitely difficult during a pandemic but we were hoping to have our very own Claire/Dale moment over our FaceTime with our respective matches. We logged on at 8pm and the app said it was “searching for matches.” We waited one minute, two minutes, five minutes, but it was still searching. We each wondered if we were really that unmatchable, but found comfort in the fact that we both weren’t getting any matches. Still, we waited in hopes that we would find our “Mr Rights.” Then, we heard sirens and were momentarily distracted by our Citizen apps telling us there was a fire near. But, that wasn’t the app we were focused on. Citizen wasn’t going to find us our soulmates, amiright? We flipped back to the app and continued to wait as the screen still said it was searching. We heard someone screaming “fire” but we barely noticed considering the only hot thing we were interested in were the men. Still searching. To skip to the end… there was a big fire and the app didn’t find us our future husbands that night. It was a little disappointing, but everyone made it out of the fire okay. We’re a little afraid to go back to the app considering we had no luck and we don’t want anything else to catch on fire. The searching was definitely discouraging, but one day we hope to find love on the app!

Normally on other dating apps it takes at least 1-2 weeks before I actually meet with a match. And that’s if they don’t flake. And I hate getting to know someone thru text its just terrible. On the app there’s only one thing you can do when you match: go on a date. And that’s so cool! They pick the place so there’s no need to go back and forth figuring out where to meet. It’s a bit intimidating at first, but totally worth it. I’ve been on 2 the app dates so far and even though I didn’t hit it off with my dates, it was such a game changing and fun experience. Getting to know someone IRL is how dating should be done. Thank you for making the app! My biggest complaint is I wish they ran the matching sessions more frequently and offered more date times. I’m busy and often forget or make plans so it would help to have more options.

I understand the whole zooming past the penpal experience, but the match time here can really limit use. 0.5 to 1.5 hours to match before a date is just too limiting - if I’m getting out of work at 6pm, I’m sure as hell not waiting in my office until 7:30pm to match with a potential date at 9pm. If I’m not looking cute that day, I’d like to have a little more buffer time to make sure I look better before a date...also, for users who live in other boroughs (yes, they are still part of NYC despite what you may believe), this might not even be enough time to get into a date. Please push the match time earlier, like noon, so at least I have some more notice, jeez. I know there are some next-day match options, but it’s not enough.

I've tried a bunch of the swipe apps - tinder, bumble, hinge etc. - some work better than others but I always feel like there's a ton of convos that end before an actual date Saw an IG ad for the app and so far the experience is fun, interesting, and definitely a little stressful especially the first few times. At first I was like "oh yeah I'm down to just meet someone", but when put on the spot it's a different feeling, but once I went for it was actually fun and exciting. I've been on 2 the app dates so far. Both were solid and looking forward to my next one. Thanks the app!
