  • Nice try, but needs work

    By Skorry (Pcmac user)

The lure of this product is to shorten your time in the checkout line by enabling you to scan your items as you put them in your cart. Unfortunately, you still have to go through the checkout line, so you still have to wait behind others. This is unlike the Sam’s Club app which allows you to completely skip the register and just show your phone as you go out the door. Another shortcoming of this app is the requirement of using the the app Eagle WiFi, which (at least at the stores I’ve visited) is an unsecured network. And if that doesn’t scare you off, one has to provide an email address and opt in to marketing emails in order to connect to the WiFi network. In short, if everyone else uses this app, it may shorten my wait time at the checkout. But I don’t think my use of the app is worth the risks and spam that I’ll be exposed to.
  • So far so good

    By Bee7475 (Pcmac user)

This app has made my shopping experience much smoother (it helps that nobody else appears to use it in my area so I haven’t had to wait in line at the single checkout kiosk once). So far I haven’t run into any bugs or lags. 2 enhancements I would love to see: 1. Allow me to enter quantities for anything I scan. A few things work like this (donuts from the bakery for example) but it would be a lot easier if I could do this for things such as yogurts or soups as well. 2. I would love to see this integrated with a grocery list app of some sort – ideally one that has a barcode scanner built-in similar to Grocery IQ. I currently do all my grocery lists on my phone, and having to flip apps back-and-forth one-handed constantly during my shopping is a bit of a pain.
  • Not great

    By TheLayKay (Pcmac user)

The app is very glitchy, leaving the app for a couple moments causes the app to lose connection, if your phone “goes to sleep” while shopping the WiFi goes out, some items say that it wasn’t scanned properly then when you check the list, it’s listed multiple times. I thought this would be comparable to the Sam’s app, with the shopping list clear while you do all your shopping instead of a separate screen. I understand the need to bag your groceries at a store like GE but it would be easier to scan your advantage card at the register and have your order linked that way with it already paid on the phone.
  • OK start

    By Th-pgh (Pcmac user)

It’s OK. It should allow for multiple items after a scan rather than having to scan all of the items individually. The scanner, when attached to your cart, will pick up UPC codes in your cart if the phone is aimed that way. I ended up overpurchasing without realizing it. Basically, they should do what the Sam’s Club app does. It would make it much easier. To solve the produce issue, put a scan and go station in the produce section so we can weight and tag our produce there rather than having to go through the checkout line. Same with bulk. If you buy those items, scan and go doesn’t help you. After two uses, I’m not sure it saves that much time. I’ll try it a few more times.
