It’s a dud
By scootage81 (Pcmac user)
I did a dress rehearsal for my Olympic-distance tri and used the app for the first time. It didn’t correctly display the distance during my swim, then after pushing the two side buttons for T1, didn’t display the transition time. But when I pressed them again, it started the bike segment. Even worse, at some point during the bike, without any notification, it gave some error message and said it had started a new workout, though it appeared not to have done so. Needless to say, I didn’t bother with it for the run (and was glad I had also been using Cyclemeter on my phone for the run).
After I finished, the phone app shows no recorded data for anything. Fortunately, it at least imported the swim segment into the Workout app on my phone, so I have can view the data there, though weirdly not in the this app app.
The whole experience with both the phone and watch apps is garbage. If I can’t trust it to work as promised for a workout, there’s no way I’m going to take a risk relying on it for a race. I’d really like the developer to refund my $9.99.

Did the job, still some bugs
By Pitthannah (Pcmac user)
Just got done using this app for the first time in a race, I did a sprint tri. I had issues with it freezing up while testing it out for a swim/run training, and I actually had to restart my watch to get it to open again. This morning before the race, it again seemed frozen and would not open. I had to restart my watch, and then it opened and it worked! I think it was freezing when I would get a text and it didn’t know what to do. I do not have cellular on my watch and I was not close enough to my phone during the whole race to pick up texts, so I think that is why it managed to not freeze during the race. Hopefully some of the bugs can be worked out, because I loved FINALLY having an Apple Watch tri app and I hope to continue using it!

Worked great for Olympic Tri!
By TennesseeTennis (Pcmac user)
I used this app for the Southbeach Miami open water Olympic distance the app on April 15th, with my Apple Watch 3 with LTE.
It worked great! The double button press to transition between tri legs was simple and worked as intended. Tri Tracker did a good job tracking all legs of the the app with GPS, even the open water swim. I had no Apple Watch battery issues using the app for the duration (3+ hours) - it kept plenty of charge even with LTE enabled the whole time, and several texts coming in along the way.
As far as the user interface goes, the basics worked, but a few display tweaks would perfect it. It was a bit of an issue that there’s no way to view stats on the watch itself for a completed activity without having an iPhone handy. Also the run stats were a bit hard to read during the run itself, so it would be good if text size and location on the watchface display could somehow be configurable in future releases.
Overall, though, very happy with this app! Much better than using the built in Apple Watch capabilities for a tri. Hoping the developers keep working on this because this is exactly the functionality I’ve been waiting for and I expect there’ll be big demand from the tri community.

Nice concept... needs work
By A recent buyer (Pcmac user)
Downloaded with high hopes about a week and a half before my tri so I could get familiar with it and do a practice routine. It’s the only app I could find with the right feature set for tracking a the app with a minimum of fuss. Did a ‘mini’ sprint a week before my race and the app got stuck in the second transition. Was gratified to see an update a few days before my event that was supposed to address this glitch and downloaded/installed it to my phone and watch. Tested it before the event and it seemed to move seamlessly through the transitions. Then on race day I tracked my race with it and checked the results afterward. Apparently my 3/4 mile swim was actually 0.1 miles and took less than 10 minutes (I swam for over a half hour). My swim-ride transition and my ride were completely non-sensical. Only the run made sense. Will be watching for updates to make this a more robust app - I really want it to work well but was disappointed with my first outing.
