What is Social Perspective Taking?
This app is designed to teach empathy and perspective-taking skills to children and adolescents. It presents over 100 images of social scenarios in elementary school, middle/high school, and the community, and users must match appropriate thoughts, feelings, and verbal dialog to the individuals shown in the images. Progress is recorded and can be emailed to teachers, parents, or therapists for tracking development of skills.
1. Users click and drag thought bubbles or speech balloons over individuals in the image, to represent their intent and behavior, in specific social situations.
2. The app allows users to match the appropriate thoughts, feelings, and verbal dialog to the individuals shown in various social scenarios in an elementary school, middle/high school & in the community.
3. Over 100 images and corresponding thought bubbles and speech balloons are presented for users to practice their perspective taking skills.
4. Progress is recorded for each answer and users are able to email their scores to their teachers, parents, or therapists to track development of skills.
5. Multiple users from 7 years of age through teens can relate to these familiar settings and their progress may be saved and used for data collection.
6. Users are given two chances to select their answers before correct answers are given.
7. Facial expression, body language and environmental context must be considered to find the correct answers.
8. Users must be readers or have someone available to read answers to them.
9. This app teaches children and adolescents empathy and how to take the perspective of others.
