After someone hit me in the back of my car at a traffic light then lied to her insurance company that I back into her, I decided to invest in a carcam. I bought 3 different cameras from reliable vendors. They were ok but cumbersome for me to use. Then someone told me about the carcam app. I am very please with it. I just hang my phone above the dash board push the button and ready to go. The video is clear. I recommend it to all my family members. Great app.
does not save videos

The docs say you must register (eg, give them your email address) in order to save videos to the cloud. It does NOT say you must register (eg give them your email) in order to use the app and store video locally. I did not register because I have no interest in saving my driving results to unknown servers and I have many GB of free space on my iphone. I tried it 5 times. The app indicated it was recording and saving video locally. The list of videos shows 5 videos with a thumbnail picture but ZERO LENGTH.
Records your drive well

The app does a good job of recording your drive. I use it for the proof that another vehicle came into my lane and crashed, etc. Most recent update since iOS 11.4 results in a crash. Hope it gets fixed.
Excellent for a young app

Does all I want in a dashcam... except running in the background, but I’m not even sure that’s possible. Double tap of the screen to lock the clip and, thus, prevent its deletion when you empty out the saved files is a nice feature.
